First off: Yes. Capitalism is a deeply flawed economic model that ultimately devolves into predatory social darwinism without Heavy regulation by a trustworthy authority(which, as history is quick to point out, are always temporary). Everyone knows this. Economists have known this since At Least before world war 2. Thing is, lately I've been seeing a lot of keyboard marxists trying to convince everyone that a complete shift to communism(not socialism) is going to fix all their problems. Unfortunately, The issues with modern economics aren't that easy and aren't even in the ballpark of the supposed “fix” people are peddling. First off, I'll define what I personally mean by capitalism, communism, and socialism, because the definitions get nebulous and are used interchangeably with things they shouldn't. Capitalism: the economic and political model where business and property are privately own by one or a small group of individuals. The idea is that…
While I am chilling during work, “I gotta let the pay catch up to the work”. So now I start to conversat with older Co workers so it seems like I'm asking “how it works” but really talking about random stuff.
Secondary WFH jobs
How many of you guys work from home as a normal job, but also have a secondary WFH job to do while you do your normal work? I currently do call center work and it's slow a lot of times, so I'm looking for something secondary to do to fill the time. I'm curious if anyone else is stacking WFH.
Reforming capitalism is not the answer.
Reforming capitalism is not the answer to the labor problem and i'm tired of people on here saying “SOME MANAGERS ARE GOOD” and “ITS NOT WORK THATS THE PROBLEM ITS THE CURRENT STATE OF WORK” Wrong. The problem is work itself. The solution to the labor problem is that work should be abolished as well as capitalism.
Need advice, restaurant organizing
Voting on a new tip system. National chain, under 30 locations, but we’re the only location voting regarding the tip system. The options are: The bartenders will vote to leave the pool and receive a tipout from servers of 2.5% of liquor sales, or stay in the pool. The servers and support staff will also vote to either: -Remain in a weighted pool -Go to an 18% pool, and anything over 18% of sales (in tips) is given directly to the sole server -Dissolve the tip pool altogether and keep your own tips – but take no one else’s Additionally, we are voting whether or not to tip out the food runners (I actually did not know we didn’t), but we were told runner’s base pay would decrease from $15 per hour to around $12 per hour, but with tips. When asked why their rate would drop, the answer was…
Why even bother to work my ass off?
Hello People, I love this sub, and support friends and family to stand their ground at work. I’m in my twenties and I have no ambition to own a house or a expensive car. My parents worked their ass off (for 45 years) and still have 20% debt remaining on their small house. They lived rather poorly. They lived to work. Meanwhile I try enjoying my life outside work as much as I can. While some of my friends invest all their spare money into a house or an expensive car, they are going to pay in the next 30 years, I don’t get why. I don’t want to turn 60, look back on my previous life and be happy to be a homeowner. Rather I would look back to have nice memories on places and memories with people I met along my journey.
