Help with interview?

I have a job interview in two days. Its a bilingual position. They know I am a beginner in the 2nd language and want to test how much I know. I was told they would only ask a few questions in the other language. Speaking the language is a major weakness for me, but I'm thinking I'll at least have a grasp on what they are saying. I know for a fact they offer free language classes to their employees, so I could potentially still get the job. Any tips on how to handle the questions if I don't know how to answer them in the second language? Any general tips?

Questions about working for Amazon

Hey everyone! Please forgive me if this sub isn't the right place for this post. I'm just looking for some opinions and some help. I figured with how large this sub is, there may be some software devs here who used to work at Amazon and could answer my question. I'm a junior developer and was recently contacted by a recruiter for Amazon. It's not an official job offer yet, but I've been looking for a better job since my current one barely pays me a living wage and I was thinking about applying/interviewing. However, I've heard that Amazon has a bad reputation in the job market in all different kinds of careers. (Not surprising). I'm wondering if anyone who works there currently or has worked there in the past could give me a little insight into what it's like working specifically as a software developer/engineer at Amazon. Is it…

A seldomly addressed capitalist scheme.

I'm surprised I don't see realtor threads here more often. It's amazing that it typically costs 6% of the selling price to pay for realtors who do very little work in reality. A listing agent will probably expend less than 10 hours total on the sale and walk away with $9,000 on a $300,000 home. And somehow the brokerage deserves 50% of that as well. I've sold 2 homes now using a flat fee MLS listing. You can't viably do this on your own since the FSBO stigma will cause many buyers agents to steer clients away. So I used an agent that gets listed on the MLS while I do the work (which isn't much) and spend $800 instead of $9,000. Still have to give the buyers agent their 3%. I tried offering 2% on my first house sold this way. Very few offers and the ones I did…

Looking for a remote job. any suggestions?

My mental health has reached a point where I need to solely focus on getting better. That being said, I quit my job a few months ago. I am utilizing all tools available to me for success in my position. However, especially with the war, bills are piling up. My significant other can't afford to be the only source of income for our home. My case worker, Therapist and psychiatrist all agree that working from home would be the best option. I've never worked from home and have no clue where to start. Had a job opportunity selling life insurance, but it was commission only. I need something more dependable. Almost leaning more towards salary? Any advice? Any suggestions on dependable 'work from home' jobs available? I have a smartphone, laptop and printer. I'm from the USA for reference.

I call potential customers to refi/purchase mortgage loans and my manager told Me I could be terminated for being on an hour call handling a legit complaint/escalation. Should I wait for termination or just quit ?

His original issue was we spoke to 2 of our LOs already. We told him we could not help with the loan he wanted. Well our call center doesn’t care to update things properly so we call and harass customers even after we say we can’t help them. It’s a stupid auto dialed. Our call centers in USA and in Philippines call, and email our customers daily to refi or purchase a house. He had many critiques to give us and they were all valid and I agreed with every point he made. I was logging the correct notes and making sure I escalate this complaint properly. My manager called me mad said I could be terminated for taking a 1 hour call and said even if it was 10 minutes that would’ve still been an issue as it’s too long. He said i should’ve told the customer I’ll log…

Everyone needs to know about the EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission)

There are so many instances of discrimination or harassment in the workplace. The EEOC is a federal agency that was created to protect against that. Here is a link to their website and their overview: Overview: The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is responsible for enforcing federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or an employee because of the person's race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, transgender status, and sexual orientation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information. Most employers with at least 15 employees are covered by EEOC laws (20 employees in age discrimination cases). Most labor unions and employment agencies are also covered. The laws apply to all types of work situations, including hiring, firing, promotions, harassment, training, wages, and benefits. https://www.eeoc.gov/overview **Remember, document EVERYTHING that happens in your workplace that could be harassment, intimidation, or discrimination. You can…

so people on “probation period” get treated differently?

So I'm working at a warehouse now, and my supervisor seems to treat me different from everyone else because I'm on prohibition period. So today, I saw everyone leave their parts of where they worked in the warehouse, and thought, oh okay….everyone has finished so I'm done too? And it made sense because when I was training, the lady who trained me allowed me to leave 8 minutes early. So I sat down today, 8 minutes early, with my supervisor starring at me hard. I was thinking ughhh what have I done now? so I ignored her. She then asked me why I'm not in the warehouse cleaning and I told her because everyone has left, and so I thought that everything was just finished as I previously just went to the toilet before I went back upstairs. She then says to me “you are on probation period, and just…

Potentially fired for not accepting a “promotion”

So I work as a data entry specialist for a local company. They’re expanding fairly quickly and they’ve realized that my two person data team isn’t able to handle the increasing workload. I agreed with this and they started discussing the possibility of me becoming the “head of all tech related fields”. I was interested because it would come with a $7 pay raise which would be great but I wanted to discuss what the new position would entail before I accepted. They told me we would arrange a meeting with the owner and get all of that sorted out in a couple days. Cut to the day of the meeting and it turns out the owner can’t make it so he has the two upper level managers break it down for me. Basically I would end up doing exactly what I’m doing now plus everything else that would have…

Do temp agencies have the right to end your assignment without any explanation or at least a warning?

I Got a call today after working at a production warehouse for two months through a temp agency and I was told that my “assignment had ended”. The thing that baffled me is that the agency had spoken to the managers and higher ups at the ware house to obtain a review prior and I was told I was doing a good job. I made mistakes very seldomly (and none of them were anything major), always did what I was told, never missed any days except for 1 day, and I came in and worked my hardest. So it baffles me that I would get a call out of the blue that I’m “not a good fit”. They’ve been letting people go like wildfire at this place for what it seems like no reason. I get that it’s a temporary position but it just seems wrong to do it in…
