The uselessness of recruiters these days. https://preview.redd.it/9sa9lhylsui81.jpg?width=2550&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=214d21f7ed6e72d185303feadb4c1cc13ddfe570
Mine: Landed an interview as for a middle school music teaching position in a town near me. It was a decent town known for its expansive music education program. When I accepted the interview I asked how many people would be on the interview panel so I could provide each of them a copy of my resume, sample lessons, previous student work, etc. Basically everything expected for a teacher to provide during an initial interview. I was told there would be a panel of three: the district music chair, an admin from the middle school itself, and the vocal teacher for the high school, as the HS choral program required a good MS feeder program. It all seemed completely normal. Day of the interview I showed up with 5 copies of my portfolio. One for each of the interviewers and two redundancies, just in case. After waiting for more than…
Worked at a media management company for streaming services (Premiere Digital) for over a year. All of us wanted more pay ($20/hour) and to work remote. After months of begging and writing every week on their suggestion board, we were told it wasn't gonna happen and they gave us a measly 50 cent raise. So i left with no plan and now found a job working directly for a streaming service that is 100% remote and pays $30/hour. My boss also quit a week after me cause he was just as fed up about it. Just wanted to throw this out there if any of you are on the fence about making a similar decision
Employer messed up my w4
My employer did not follow my signed w-4 form correctly so now i owe a couple thousand dollars to the IRS and all i got was a sorry. I live paycheck to paycheck scrounging what i can to get by at 11$ an hour living with a roommate and i dont know what to do, i was planning on using this to help pay off my car but i guess im going into debt instead. I have emails from my works payroll admitting they messed up if that helps at all sorry for bothering yall.
My old job was great. I loved the clients I worked with, and most of the staff was awesome. But, I was getting pushed around and merry how many times I stood up for myself, my bosses didn’t listen. My kids school tells me that they have to do distance-learning with a weeks heads up. I told my bosses and even my supervisor about it through text, email, and in person. The first day of distance-learning rolls around and they ask me if I was planning on coming in. I told them no, I have to do school with my kid. And they tell me I should’ve given them a heads up… The day after that, I’m on my way to work when I get into a pretty bad car accident. Car is totaled. I called my boss and tell them about the accident, my hand is shaking, and freaking…

Just Another Day in the USA
I was driving to the gym this am and saw a man crawl out of the bushes at the freeway offramp and stretch out his arms because he was obviously just waking up after having slept there. I drove through a farmer’s market on my way home and saw a man sitting on the curb with all his belongs in a cart and two bags. He had a look of complete defeat and depression on his face, staring at the ground as others walked by and ignored him while drinking $7 coffees. Just another day in the USA. How can I take any joy in any work that I do within a system that treats my fellow countrymen and women with such contempt? Do I give a f$ck about your business that is hoarding enough cash to fund a small country instead of distributing it to the communities that do…
Great article that was posted in another sub, felt appropriate to share here. I especially enjoyed reading about the video game study, where participants were randomly assigned poverty-level resources vs adequate resources. https://psyche.co/ideas/why-we-shouldnt-push-a-positive-mindset-on-those-in-poverty
