my mom is in her room crying to someone on the phone (i assume a coworker she's close to) about how demoralized she is because of her management continuously being awful for the last few years she's had this job. without going too into specifics they hired her with a false impression of what the company was going to be like, and even though she is glad she gets to work from home, every other aspect of the job stresses her out to no end and it's taking a serious toll on her mental and physical health. she has been underutilized, passed over on promotions because she's too valuable to lose in her current position, not supported in any way, and micromanaged to no end even though shes more than capable of handling herself. i know many of you would probably say to look for a new job but she…

I’ve been working at Dollarama for around 8 months, and I’m just so tired of it, the workplace is horrid, and the employees are toxic as hell, supervisors are paid 50 cents more than associates, there was basically no communication between supervisors and associates. We were left to our own devices and it was really hard to improve at all. In fact, around two days after I told my boss I was putting my two weeks in, the news had already spread to the whole store. I don’t know how normal that is but it shouldn’t have had spread that fast, or at all. No wonder people were quitting essentially every month.

I start working from home next week and couldn’t be more excited. This morning, while in the shower, I decided to do the math to figure out exactly how much time I will be getting back with this new job. (Yes I realize I am a nerd lol) Anyway, I leave the house at 7:15 and don’t get home until 6:15 M-Th. Friday I am gone from 7:15 to 7:15. I don’t consider my lunches as free time, bc it is only a half hour and I work 45 minutes from home, so not like I can do anything on my half hour lunch besides eat in my car. So that is 56 hours/week eaten up by my job. My new role will be M-F 8-5 with an hour lunch. That hour I’m including as mine, since that is enough time to run some errands or do a quick workout…

Throwaway because this is a very specific situation but I'd like some outside opinions on this. I worked for a security company for several years. In November my sister who lived 500 miles away was diagnosed with cancer and was scheduled to start chemo at the end of January of this year after surgery. Told my boss that I'd likely be quitting to move and take care of my sister. The other option would be personal leave but it turned into a headache so I opted to simply quit and reapply to my position when I got back to New York later this year. My last day was meant to be 1/18 I ended up being diagnosed with COVID during the last few days of December. I'm asthmatic so my doctor got nervous and told me to quarantine for at least 10 days instead of the standard 5 or 7.…

I already came in Sunday, last minute when I got called in last minute and had to cancel some plans I had cause it was a actual emergency. I was given another day off, with how they really don't like to give people overtime. I didn't do anything on my day off as I've worked long shifts the other days I worked. I was left in charge of the store a day the store manager was really sick and had to go home. I just got back from a walk this morning to the assistant manager, texting me to ask if I could come in and close because she couldn't? I'm not salaried or on call so I'm starting to get really mad fast. I'm paid the same as a regular employee just full time with benefits, i'm about to go look for another job.

I quit my old job about 3 months ago and got a job at a better company with a $17K pay raise. My employer installed Prohance on my computer. I figured out a simple way to bypass the idle timer (so it looks like im never away from my computer) but im concerned what all Prohance can do? Can they screen record my computer and if so can they do recordings on both monitors? We use WorkFlow to process our work, can they use Prohance to monitor productivity?
