I want to apply for a data entry position that pays about $4 more than my current job at an auto dealership. Problem is, they’re requiring a year of experience in data entry. I know how to do it, when I fixed up PCs for a living I had to enter in a lot of shit on excel but that’s not something that I can have a solid reference for since I worked for myself. Anyone have any experience lying about data entry/references?
Yeah. No. Crosspost.
Guess what!? We guessed it wrong.
For context: I work in a hotel with shit shifts and shit pay and have to deal with entitled boomer guests. So normally I'd get 1600 a month, every month. If I work overtime I get more 'free hours' instead of paid extra. Since January I get €4 less. I asked the manager about it and he said he'd ask HR about it. Then in February I get the same amount. And now I get 1500?!?! I'm so mad right now! I want to call work and tell them that I won't come in until they fixed my paycheck. Wtf is this kind of bs?! I really want to quit and am looking for jobs but I don't have anything lined up. Any advice?
Instead of giving them raises. I'm floored. I've just heard about this today in a posted notice at work. Basically the servers got a tiny raise a few months ago bc the government mandated it, I was grateful but it wasn't much and with inflation as it is honestly we haven't been as busy so we aren't making many tips. I then heard from my friend in the back that 2 of the kitchen boys were talking about leaving for another job because “other places are giving cost of living raises to kitchen staff”. And now today, a notice that says all the servers will pay twice as much tipout “because we all need to do our part to support the whole restaurant”. Why am I financing another employees wage?? This increase also nullifies our small raise.
“We have employees that need to eat”
So I was desperate for a job and was hired on by our local Cracker Barrel as a Dishwasher and maintenance. Well, when covid hit, everyone was told not to come back to work until further notice, and the store would be run by the managers as they were salary and would affect the overhead and labor percentages. I later found out some of my other co-workers were allowed to come in work, but of course, these were the “favorites.” That was the first strike Well, shortly after, everything opened back up i had reached my 1 year anniversary amd was informed that I did not qualify for benefits as I did not work for 3 months out of that year, but they would see what they could do. Nothing ever came of it. Second strike But here is the straw that broke the camels back. An employee who worked…
Happy & excited employer
Small business owner here, only have a couple employees, so I think it's a bit easier for me to show the needed attention to each of them. It's also been a pretty good couple years for my industry, so I'm lucky that I can easily afford to compensate well. Lastly our work is pretty rewarding, not everyone can feel the same about what they do, so I'm lucky that way too. I'm happy to be in the position at the end of this month giving really good reviews to the people who work with me and hand out 10-20% of their current annual salary as Q1 profit sharing bonuses. I'm also looking forward to giving one person a 1 year path to their next promotion which they've shown a lot of development in order to make this path clear to us. We're currently hiring for another position that should bring…
