Been here 8 years. 5 years ago, I told leadership I was tired of him being a prick to me. I’d like to stay if they’d please move me out from under him. They did. Today he sprung a project (that he’s known about for a month on us) and tried to make me work tonight. (We are 9-5). I said ‘No.’ He got pissy. Said ‘your lack of commitment is showing’. I said ‘My commitment? I got a pay cut through no cost of living raise for 2 years. You are a prick to me constantly, and you keep projects to yourself and then bully people around last minute every time. You don’t own my time , especially not after 5. No thanks.’ All he said was ‘okay.’

When I see something like this, my mind immediately goes to 2 places: 1) No one wants to work anymore (Because this business is a horrible place to work) 2) The owner is a penny wise pound foolish dumbass who would rather save the pittance he'd need to pay another employee, even though having two employees could help productivity and boost profits I went to an ice cream place recently where there was a line out the door and a 16 year old kid taking orders, accepting payments, and making the actual ice creams for everyone (They were known for these specialty sundaes that looked like they took forever to make). The dude was clearly overwhelmed and was sweating his ass off, so I made sure to hand him a tip as I left. I also wondered where the owner was. Something tells me they were either in the back…

Suggesting that poor people shouldn't get money or help, because “they dont deserve it” or Being forced to attend fiscal responsibility classes while recieving $850/month to live on. Gaslighting those in poverty with baseless accusations of drugs, laziness; especially when simple math will reveal the impossibility of surviving with most jobs' wages. Resistance to unions, public transportation, and corporate responsibility. Trusting law enforcement over your fellow citizen. I think we've all seen enough videos of disadvantaged people being exploited and abused by police and judges alike. Affiliations. Stay clear of businesses and people who demonstrate these classist behaviors and views. Often they are comorbid with racism and sexism, so it is likely for the best either way.
