international or global along with regions on all job boards

I don't know if this is the right subreddit to post this in but I would like to know if and where I can get people to support a (future) change.org petition? The leading job boards have things like remote and work from home, but none of that matters if there is no international/global option. Remote and work from home will usually only apply to the country of the employer locally, not internationally, so many people waste their time applying to a job where the employers do not even hire internationally. They then spent more time looking into each employer trying to gauge and assess if the employer hires internationally. All of this is frustrating and time consuming. On top of all that, recruiters or “HR” doesn't even have the decency to tell the people they have been declined because of their region. The answer? An option for international/global. Employers…

How much do you all earn?

I’m from the UK, which don’t get me wrong doesn’t have the best wages or employment laws (especially after leaving the EU) but it genuinely terrifies me to hear how little you guys in the US are paid and how overworked you are. So I thought for everyone’s clarity I’d see how much everyone earns (of course feel free to remain anonymous/not name the company etc. if you don’t want to). Feel free to include how many hours you work and what responsibilities you have. Ps: I find it disgusting that your employment is tied to your health insurance. As someone’s whose family members have relied on the NHS so much over the years I honestly can’t imagine how many of them would be suffering to this day if they had to pay for hospital visits.

Our “Family”

Company CEOs need to get over this notion of the employees who work in the company they also work for, being described as “family.” Its flimsy and ill conceived marketing trite. An attempt to lure in employees with warm words and empty promises. If CEOs wish to use that kind of language, then let’s see the details of what makes you a family. Post it on your website, with the details. Show your employee survey results, with the answer to the question “As an employee of this company, I can honestly say that we feel like a family.” Why does it matter? Because we will never properly evolve the world of work unless we are honest about what it is; a transactional relationship between company owners (could be shareholders) and their representatives (management and boards) and others, whereby individuals are paid money to work on various processes that enable the…

I was threatened to be fired, even though I don’t work there anymore

Like the title says. I was working as a freelance software engineer, a d my contract ended a few days ago, and was not renewed, which is actually great for me. Yesterday I receive a call from my ex boss, here's how the conversation went, verbatim : Him : “Hi, how are you ? Listen I assigned some tasks for you this morning, I need you to finish them for tonight we have a big client coming tomorrow” (At this point I did log in to check the task, and they would take at minimum 6 hours each, without accounting for bugs or unexpected issues) Me : “Sorry, I don't know why you're asking me but you should be asking someone else” (He interrupted me) Him : “I was'nt asking, either it's done today, or you're gone” (At this point I realized he clearly forgot my contract had ended) Me…

Incremental vs Sudden Change in the US

I’m curious if people think incremental vs sudden change will be more effective long term in the US. To clarify I am categorizing a move to $15 or $20 minimum wage from the current level in a single update as incremental change. An example of sudden or abrupt change would be making owning more than one house illegal. I believe incremental change would be the most permanent. Completely turning the system on its head would either cause collapse where no one benefits or the pendulum would swing equally hard in the reverse direction when the party opposing change retook power. Incremental steps I want to see, ideally tomorrow: – at least a $15 minimum wage – UBI – rent control -universal healthcare – 4 day work week – update tax code to remove executive stock bonus incentives and significantly increase taxes on the very highest earners I don’t want people…

Is ambition a trap?

I've always been ambitious. I've changed my career a few times and realized I don't suit being employed. I've been a brand designer, website designer and now I'm a digital marketer, which is my most recent thing. I took a digital marketing course at a local college and got myself a couple of clients and I'm doing OK. After all this time, dedication, studying and grinding….I've realized I don't like social media (reddit excluded). I go on tiktok and Instagram and Facebook and all I see is people posting for attention and adoration. It's all so shallow and empty. We're all becoming our own personal PR companies. Promoting a false version of ourselves on social media. Advertising ourselves on online dating apps. There's no real connection behind any of it. I honestly thought that once I finally had a qualification in digital marketing, I would feel fulfilled. I also thought…
