Company policy is that we are expected to give two weeks notice at a minimum. I have two weeks of PTO submitted and approved in our system so I gave my employer four weeks notice in advance of my last day working. Management is upset and trying to go back into the HR system and change my end date to two weeks from the date of the notice, instead of four. Can they do this? Company policy is that if PTO is submitted and approved in the system prior to delivering notice, you are able to take it. My PTO will be paid out regardless. The HR system will not let me change my last date of service on my own, so I’m waiting to see what HR is able to do. A small concern is, I do not want to have COBRA health insurance for the two-week gap between…
Oklahoma, US. We have absolutely no money for the surgery. None. We go without already, eating only ramen or a few bites each day. My rabbit had to go to the vet yesterday, it cost our last $340. Long story short they did nothing except say I’m right his teeth are bad & prescribe meds to get him through a whole week of waiting for surgery. Pre-surgery bloodwork as well ($170). He needs to be hand fed soft foods, has tooth pain so hardly eats, and I’m exhausted. My bf worked as an independent contractor except a contract was never signed. They hired him verbally, he worked for them for a year, they wrote his checks as a 1099. After a while of my bf doing his best (too much, they took advantage) they started telling him when he had to be at jobs and getting pissy with him when…
I just got home from what was the worst interview I have ever experienced. I’ll do my best not to turn this into a ramble. I’ve recently began pursuing work again as I’m coming off a 7-month voluntary hiatus after burning myself out so bad that it had begun effecting my health and quality of life. The interview starts off with your basic questions including “What 10 words would you use to describe yourself?” I’ve always viewed and treated my interviews as conversations as opposed to drills so when my responses were more similar to sentences than words, he hits me with something along the lines of “10 words would have been sufficient.” Y’all I don’t know if I was embarrassed, shocked, or humored because all I could think to reply with was a “Well I hope it was enough to answer your question.” Later on he asks me “On…
First post on here and I also wanna preface this has to do with someone I know. It sounded crazy to me and even the manager of the restaurant is still upset and talking about the situation. Fake names of course. Leslie works as a waitress. Leslie is an opener at this restaurant so she comes in early and takes breaks early. However some regular customers who like Leslie want her to wait on them keep missing her because by the time they come in Leslie is on break. Which is a odd because her schedule hasn’t changed. Well, this upset them and they actually called corporate. They gave them a time frame as to when they come in which is roughly around 9:00am. Which is around when a 3rd waitress is on the floor. Now Leslie can’t have her break until that third waitress comes in. So it isn’t…
I am going to through this out there for people who are in something and don't know if they can go do something else. Almost all companies try to make employees feel small and incapable imagining more. I say this as someone who got an engineering degree and saw brilliant people around me doing brilliant things and then in the real-world, it literally is beat out of most engineers that they can't solve a problem or design something themselves and non-standard. Companies don't want employees who think they are capable of more because they will be asking for more money, more training, and won't be happy doing the same thing for years.
Keep in mind, I (19f) am his only able bodied employee. He has past injuries, my grandpa should be retired, and my mom and sister do office work only. I'll start with last week since that's the most recent time this has happened. I get to work on Monday, tired as usual, and set up to get to work in this person's house. I get about half of the job done before severe vertigo sets in. I take a break in the trailer, throw up, almost black out, and get sent home around noon. I go home and take a hard nap to wake up to the same vertigo and muscle pain, like a migraine. It lasts for the rest of that night. I take Tuesday off because the vertigo doesn't stop and the walk in clinic closed before my boyfriend got home. Wednesday morning I wake up (late) to…
Only 2 months into new position and I already regret it…. I work for a dealership, and I started out as a lot attendant in the sales department back in 2017. Through out the years I’ve been moving up in the ranks and recently I became an advisor. I wasn’t really asked if I wanted to, my boss sort of gradually trained me for it. It all started when I was one of the rental agents in our rental department. Because we were short staffed on advisors, I’d help out with the service calls. My boss loved the way I spoke to customers, so he thought I’d be a good fit for an advisor. Well I’ve come to realize I hate this job. I hate dealing with rude, sleazy, dishonest technicians, rude customers, and just a bunch of other crap that’s getting to me. I just don’t know what to…
I feel like the work I do is just too complex for $14 an hour. There's way too many things I have to check for, keep track of, and stay organized on. To me, flipping burgers would be easier. The only thing is that this job does come with a number of benefits, including paid vacation, paid holidays, sick days, and paid 45 minute lunch break. On top of all this there are free snacks and water bottles provided to us, which I find useful for making homemade electrolyte drinks. Not a lot of jobs offer all of that, which is why I'm nervous. But I've worked there for almost two years now and have a lot of experience doing the complicated tasks my boss asks us to do. I know how to use our database system, aerial imaging software, use the benefit access system for taxpayers who qualify for…
My boss makes my life miserable
I am truly suffering from my bosses bad behavior. He refers to me as monkey and routinely throws objects at me when he wants me to do something. I have also been whipped several times with cables, and been exposed to many harmful chemicals by neglectful handling and ionizing x radiation. I have been forcefully humiliated on camera a couple times. I’m lucky every day to make it out alive, and the only reason I stay is because the pay is good. Any advice to help curb my bosses bad behavior and help me cope?
