Inflation is Being Used to Loosen the Labor Market

Your money won't go as far and you won't be able to afford passing on that shitty fast food/retail job. Many people who already work full time will have to take a second job. Inflation decreases the value of labor. The elite are diversified enough to absorb whatever losses they may take. Basically, the debt slaves got too uppity.

does something smell FISHY here?

So we (boyfriend and myself) applied to a certain company found on Indeed recently for 2 different positions. My boyfriend and myself both having the exact qualities/experience needed for both positions. Boyfriend goes on 1st and 2nd interview which he claims went very good and lasted well over their estimated duration. He also mentioned that this company provides product to 2 major retailers and the interviewer did in fact say ” You dont have to worry about being laid-off if hired.” Finally, the company gets back to him after his 2 follow-ups and says pretty much “while your skillset is indeed impressive, you have not been selected for the position.” In my case, I was interviewed and told right then and there, “If you don't hear back anything in 1 or 2 days, please continue your job search.” I obviously heard nothing back at all. Today my boyfriend was again…

No salary discussion…

I know I’ve seen a post about this here or somewhere else. I am a salaried employee in the US. We were told this week before reviwes/raises/bonuses that we are not allowed to discuss salary with other employees. I know I have seen that that is illegal for hourly wage workers- my manager said he brought that up to HR and they said that is not the case for salaried employees. – I have not signed any form of contract stating as much.

GM took the day off because someone else was out sick

In my place of employment, we have about 14 people. One of which is an on-site job and is not in the office. He is the only employee that actually does this job. He was out last week unable to eat or drink anything and keep it down. Our GM did the right thing and did the 5 appointments over 3 days that the guy had. Usually, we have 3 appointments per day which would have been 9 if we were booked. This morning the guy checked in to the ER because he still couldn't eat or drink after a week. My GM texts me and tells me “I'm not coming in until *on-site guy* comes in” leaving me and my fellow co-workers to pick up his tasks. Come to find out he did not respond to my on-site guy for 3 days of him calling in and his…

I got a raise for the first time ever and nearly cried

I’m currently a college student not completely sure what I want to do with my life, but in the meantime I work at a small cafe while taking classes. Until the other day, I’d pretty much accepted that minimum wage was the best I’d ever be able to make without a degree, and while my job has its downsides, I usually love it (at least in theory). About a month ago, we had two people (roughly half the staff), leave. One of said people had been upfront when she started about her plans to leave when she did, and the other person folded under the sometimes high-stress environment we work in. It essentially left just me and one other employee in addition to the two owners and a third person to help out once or twice a week when possible. Operating with this small of a staff would’ve been disastrous:…

are we trapped? yes we are

it feels like an endless cycle. sometimes I tell myself that if I just push hard enough at work for the next number of years, I can then afford to “retire” for a short amount of time before I’m broke and I have to work again. is there a way to break free of the system?

Work from home job wants to spy on me?

So, I landed a work from home job, which is nice. But a list of programs to install includes something called “Thousand Eyes” that includes 2 browser extentions. From the very name, is sounds like spyware. A quick google only returns entries from its website, which tries to use everything to say it isnt spyware. Is this spyware? Is this legal? They already dont want me using my VPN, so this makes me incredibly uncomfortable.
