Want your workers to be more productive when they’re working remotely? TRUST THEM

My current job is 80% remote, and they're great about it. On my first day I had to be in the office for orientation. I asked if they'd need me to be in the office any other days since I was still training. They said no, and sent me home with a laptop and other electronic equipment worth thousands of dollars. On my first day working remotely I emailed my manager when I signed in, took lunch, and signed out for the day. She said not to worry about letting her know when I start and end for the day, just get the work done. Aside from a meeting or 2 a day I've rarely spoken to her in my time here. And being left on my own and trusted means I get more done and have incentive to want to do well knowing I'm trusted. The reason why this…

Given a raise, but not reflecting in pay

Does anyone here know of or able to direct me towards resources regarding pay raise timelines or protections? I've been given my yearly review (yes, over a month after the 4th quarter) and I have received a slight raise. Normally, when you receive a raise going from the 4th quarter, it would take effect in quarter 1. However, even 3 weeks after the raise was told to me, it has yet to be reflected in the pay. I'm also not hearing anything in regard to back pay for the difference starting at Q1. How can I bring this forward to my employer? Are there any protections in place about guaranteed implementation of a raise or back pay for time worked under the new rate?

Its so tiring to see your boss not putting in the effort he expects you to

So I'm a part time bartender. It's a small craft bar so its usually not busy and on weekdays Im alone from opening to closing. Every Monday my boss the owner takes a shift himself and today he asked for someone to cover for his later part of the shift, which I offered to do. Well when I show up, almost two hours after opening he had hardly done any of the opening chores. Only the ones kinda required to be able to open. And he just shrugged and said he got distracted and was therefore also late and didnt open on time, which is not an excuse I could use lol. So I had to do the rest of the daily cleaning and other chores usually done at/before opening, which he and his wife reminds us of if we the staff forget. How does he expect us to do…

Ready to quit

Just waiting for a job offer. I am extremely mad could not even use any of the company “benefits” because they are cheap. I think they know I am ready to leave. BUT I need an income so can't leave yet. How to make them think I am not leaving until I find a job?

COVID and lying IT/HR departments

I tested positive yesterday and work for a small company with only 41 total employees, including owners. 2 other employees (sales) have also tested positive over the weekend, and one more has symptoms but so far has gotten a negative test. Our IT department is extremely strict, to the point that they will not allow any remote access. If someone needs to work from home they supply a special laptop and encryption key. There are only 2 laptops and only the sales department are allowed those. I'm not in sales but in marketing and I was told that I can't have a laptop to work. I am allowed to do online things, which is enough though. That's not my problem though. I know for a fact that “certain” employees do have remote access. The IT and HR heads have lied to the owners saying that absolutely no employees have remote…

I shouldn’t be having panic attacks when customers ask simple questions

That's pretty much it. I had a full on panic attack when a customer asked why the price of something was different from what the shelf said. They weren't upset or anything of the sort, but having been in retail for 8 years, I've dealt with so many Karens that I'm prepared for being berated for something as trivial as price differences. Employees shouldn't have to worry about being verbally and emotionally abused at their place of work.

Quit my job without any notice

Just finished packing up all of my stuff and sent my resignation to my boss effective immediately. This job gave me so much stress and anxiety every week that I finally had enough. This past weekend was a huge eye-opener for me in terms of my mental health and how important it is to prioritize. I have savings that will last me at least 4 months but I’ve already started interviewing at a couple of different places. I know it’s not wise to quit without having another job lined up but I need some time to relax and work on myself. I’m feeling pretty optimistic about the future. Sorry for the rant

Female leaders target other female leaders for termination..

Anyone else notice this trend in senior leadership roles across organizations? Females who do make it to the top systematically pluck out other females at the same level or lower and take them out. They target other women and sabotage…. their projects, their relationships and their careers if they can. After 25 years in the system, I dont notice men targeting other men this way. What gives?
