So short version is, I moved a 1000 miles across the country for a supposedly great career opportunity. That was in October of 2021. By day 3 there are some big red flags, and I noticed things that were blatantly misrepresented/lied about. Not given the resources to do my job, paycheck was not deposited on payday, etc. So today I finally got an offer for a better role and immediately drafted a resignation letter. I wanted to be like F you I guess I won’t be nice and give my two weeks, but I wanted to be polite and held my tongue, plus that two weeks is easy money. I’ve applied to more than 40 jobs that I’m more than qualified for, they’re places that always says “we are short staffed, sorry for the inconvenience” I even called some of them to let them know that I applied and the only answer I get back is “you will have to wait until we see all the applications”. It’s bullshit, everytime I go to those places they’ve the same people doing multiple task, short staffed and trying to make people feel pity for them. They just don’t want to hire anyone and it’s so sad how mindless sheep people don’t see that and put all the blame on unemployed people. I’m tired of this, we have to do better than this. Sorry for the rant.
No raises but best year ever
My company announced that due to continuing covid protocols there would be no performance reviews again this year, so no raises. That make 3 years, 20, 21, 22 no raises. We had our annual shareholders' meeting last week. They announced record breaking profits due to reduced staffing and other cost savings. The highest dividend payout ever. But no raises for three years.
Hey folks, As promised I would bring the People news of what has occurred here. tl;dr: I'm not actually fired yet, they are currently now “considering all options” which sounds like code to make sure they have covered their asses before I'm formally terminated. First, I want to clarify several misconceptions people have had. If we're gonna properly fucking change Labor in the United States of America, we have to get this shit right. This is absolutely legal. I'm in an At-Will Employment State, which means they can fire me for giving them a dirty look. Terminating me for declining to sign the agreement isn't illegal, it's just trashy and bad management and showcases to all the other employees that they are worth less than something as transient as policy. I just saw a YouTube ad for this. In one of the adsz their car even transforms into a domino's car on the way home, employee uniform and all. This company will now 'Tip' you $3 for getting carryout online because its like you work there. They must be short on drivers right now, and instead of using this money to give drivers a better wage, they would rather insult their customers by 'paying' them a measly 3 dollars to 'work' for them. Now that I type it out that's probably par for the course if you actually work for them. Its basically just a discount for carry-out orders. But the fact that its framed as doing cheap labor for the company is just laughing in the face of their real drivers who already make dirt wages.
I have been definitely downplaying the severity of how burnt out I have been at this job. It should be a perfect situation: a job I went to college for and in my field. I should be happy. This job has been a severely underpaid hell for the last six years. I gained 40 lbs, worsening my anxiety, depression, and plus I have ADHD. I sit behind a computer for 8 hours. I can't eat at work because I am so sick to my stomach and developed a binge eating disorder as a coping mechanism for the stress. I cry in the bathrooms. I am micromanaged. I am so friendly and polite to everyone but I feel that just waning by the hostility I get from some managers. I feel like I am treated like an idiot.
