There's a 32 hour work week act in the works. It makes overtime pay come into effect for any hours worked after 32 hours in a week. It's supposed to make the 5 day work week turn into a 4 day work week. Supporters say it will increase take-home pay and improve worker conditions. Opponents say it'll cut workers hours and not increase workers pay. I think it's a good idea and it'll help improve work conditions. But I don't think it'll increase pay. I think what will happen if the bill goes into effect is that most businesses won't increase pay. And workers will be more selective of where they'll work. Businesses who don't increase pay will suffer from lack of workers. And businesses who do will strive. In the end some businesses will increase pay to help attract workers. And some businesses will close and will cite the…
He an’t wrong
Today we had a call with some upper level management and one of the topics that came up was hiring new employees. They said they have a generous referral reward( which was slashed by 33% from previous reward amount) and they are ready to hire a ton of people. They were like we have those benefits, generous packages, we work for this client and all that BS jazz. And then I inquired since the market is so hot what are they doing to retain talent. All I heard was crickets. They didn’t know what say. For all the experience and degrees and shit this so called top level management knows jack shit about retaining employees and this is the case across all industries. Management fucking takes employees for granted and does not attend to them first and are ready to bust out $$$ for some random person who they interview…
Someone had the right idea
I’m glad I’m here
This evening, a brand new employee at our grocery store came in for their second ever shift. They said they were feeling like they might pass out. I had them sit down on some boxes we had in back and asked them a few questions. Then I suddenly thought, this is a low paying wage job. They might be starving. So I asked them if I could get them a slice of pizza, but they said they couldn’t eat pizza. How about rice? They asked, what kind? I asked, fried rice? They said yes. So I went to the kitchen, I got a small bowl of rice from the server, I went to the check out, got the plastic fork and a cup for water, I said, this is for a hungry employee who is about to pass out, and no one said a word. THANK YOU ANTI-WORK for educating…
Hi guys. I’m so heavy-hearted. I worked so hard for such little pay for my local newsroom. I’ve talked about it in posts and never thought it’d reach this point. I was asked to send along analytics to my editor and publisher, they themselves requested it, so they can see what is popular. I did so. Then this happened. My editor calls me and starts telling me how dare I tell her what news to report on. I calmly told her it was just a recommendation based on the analytics. She started screaming at me that she’s the one who chooses the news. This was the third day in a row she has screamed, and I’m not exaggerating when I say she actually was screaming at me. Each time it was over information that she herself requested. I was very calm and let her take it out on me because…
