I publicly shamed an old manager on LinkedIn and Twitter, who now works at a Bank as an account manager that he was a complete asshat, miserable c**t, when I worked for him. He reported me, but my post is still there. A former employee of his retweeted. Context: 20 years ago I was a new graduate working for a company building software. Worked 9-5, on 18K salary a year. I found out that the other grads got 26K, there were no skill differences, it turns out that I was the last guy in the recruitment campaign, so he thought he would lower the base salary. He got pissed off with me asking for a raise. I didn't know about my rights back then, but he made me come in during evening and weekends to fix bugs. Unpaid, explaining that he didn't hire “bankers” whatever that means. I must have…
I've never worked for a boss like this before I started working here. He literally hoards the toilet paper upstairs and there's like 15 of us downstairs that share a bathroom and everytime we need toilet paper we have to go upstairs and ask him for it. He only gives us 2 rolls at a time. Then gets pissy when we have to ask him for it all the time. He apparently thinks people will steal the toilet paper which is ridiculous. That isn't the only thing though. When we ask for general office supplies for our office he will give us like ten paperclips or 1 stack of staples instead of giving us a box when he has tons for himself. He also keeps the copy paper in his office so we have to go upstairs and ask for paper when we need it which is often. He calls…
How you know it sucks to work somewhere.
happy update from my new job
I haven't even started my new job yet and I just received an update telling me that my start date has been pushed back, I'll be starting 1 week later 5 paid days off, not taken out of my holiday just because the manager wanted me to have some time off before starting. The message just said it was going to be an intense first 2 weeks so have a good break before my first day. Along with the email there was a voucher for a local spa treatment to be booked anytime during the week off. It's part of a welcome pack that everyone gets. The whole attitude and mentality sounds too good to be true, I just hope it's the same after I've started working there.
Interesting
Im in the United States. So where I work there are no benefits except health insurance which is way too expensive so it's not a benefit for me. I only get 1 week of vacation time and my sick time and vacation time are rolled into one so if I call out sick it takes away from my vacation time. I'll be here 2 years in November so I'll have 2 weeks of time then but that's the most you ever get working here. Is that normal? I feel like im so tired and burnt out from never having any personal time. I am currently a student in college at 30 years old but I graduate in December. I hope to get a good job in software engineering when I graduate. Hopefully I can get a job that has good benefits and more time off because I'm so exhausted and…
My boss has been trying to get people to come back into the office lately. Today, while on a work-related call, I had to lock my dogs out of my room because they were chasing each other. My boss commented that that must be distracting and therefore reduce my productivity. I countered with the fact that my dogs make me happy which increases my productivity. I get more done at home than in the office. He said that he's found that miserable people are more productive which is why people should come into the office. Just what? How miserable must he be to think this? Does he want everyone else to be just as miserable as him? Honestly, the company is good, and generally, he's a decent boss. But if I hadn't just started here, I'd consider leaving for a different position. I just can't get it out of my…
Walked out yesterday no warning

Wanting Service at a Discount
I work as an electrician, in general, I enjoy my job. But it is endlessly discouraging when I get sent to work for wealthier customers. All, with the exception of a few, have been absolutely insufferable, vapid, and shallow people with no respect for labor and the skill that comes with any form of labor. At any point in these mansions and large luxury homes, I and my fellow workers are the most skilled and competent people in the building. Yet these homeowners treat us like we are dumb animals. I've had a customer recently who lives in a mini-mansion on a lake with fancy boats and multiple garages for their surplus of cars complain about service rates and try to refuse me payment because 'all I did was change lightbulbs'. Buddy, its a lightbulb, and you called me to do it. (Keep in mind the charge was ~120 for an…
