Our education system is a joke
3mnth run around
I applied to a job with a $600 sign on bonus. Spoke with the recruiter about it. Did orientation and spoke about it with the school director. 1st school director quit and a new one came in. New school director also said I can be expecting the bonus. She sent out an email saying we'll recieve half the bonus once we finish some tasks and complete a certain amount of hours for training, and the other half after 90days. I finished training a month ago. Payday was today. Yesterday I asked if half the bonus will be on this paycheck and she said she'll find out for me. She gets back to me and says I'm actually not qualified for it because the bonus offer expired just before I was hired. I signed a non compete contract for this job. Is there any way I can get out of it…
I'm a Process Technician with an automotive supplier. I make a liveable wage but we are underpaid for the amount of work and responsibility we have. But that's not the worst part. I've been there ten years and have missed out on a heartbreaking amount of my children's lives due to the insane amount of overtime I've been required to work. I don't think my situation is unique and am starting to believe that the price of making a blue collar living wage in the US is mandatory overtime. Thoughts?
I know it’s a labor law violation, but I wanna know if I’m being petty or not for being upset by this? I make min wage, and when I’m asked to stay after for a few min once I’m clocked out, it’s to do someone else’s job. They usually make me do a small task or two every evening, so I’m usually working off the clock for 5 min each day. It adds up and it’s so disrespectful. I don’t need this job and I decided to leave the first week of April, but I’m so upset about this. I bring my frustration home with me frequently. This workplace has been nothing but toxic since day one. What would you say to your boss if they asked you to “stay for just a few min to do blank task?”
Kim K has lost my respect.
We all know what she said (her wonderful advice for women to get up and work). I had a lot of respect for her before because she’s been going through it due to her divorce and she’s had a lot to deal with before all that. But when she said all we had to do was get up and work, my blood boiled. The hardest part of her job is reading mean comments???? The hardest parts of mine are 1) being berated by customers over the phone and 2) being paid just enough to scrape by but still worry about finances. She seriously thinks that we didn’t think of just getting up and working??? How out of touch do you have to be to make a statement like that. It’s easy when you can hire people to run your household, help with kids, dress you, and feed you. She doesn’t…
Manager – “You guys really shouldn’t be discussing your pay” Me – “you know that there are laws that protect workers’ rights to discuss their pay right?” Manager – “is that right?” Me – “yes. And you can’t retaliate or punish anyone for it” Manager – “ oh no one’s being punished! I’m just saying … it leads to conflict” Oh, so I’M creating conflict?!? No. The conflict was created when they decided to give two people who were being paid the same two different raises without changing our roles whatsoever or giving performance reviews. Don’t try and gaslight me into thinking I created the conflict. I’m still fighting for equal pay at the moment. I’m exhausted. I’ve spent a ridiculously long amount of my unpaid time off drafting letters that outline the value I bring to the company and where I excel in areas that others don’t. Maybe I…
