I saw a post on here and some other subs about how the us minimum wage should be 55$ a hour to match the available income. But that is the most fucking stupid thing i have ever heard. And i live in fucking northern Ireland, our national bird is stupid politics. If that was the case then every. And i mean every. Small business would go bust it would make the whole world worse as the big companies become so wealthy they could buy south Sudan. Ok all i wanted to say, thanks.
That’s not how it works

Capitalism will be the death of me!
Obviously, we all know that this system is unraveling. The system that has always worked against the people is working harder than ever before while we struggle. And what I find so painful is that, at the base of all of the individual systems existing within the American Workforce, we just find people who are burnt out, exhausted, and traumatized by a pandemic we still haven’t gotten through. Our government and the oligarchs are going to do all they can to convince us that it’s over while we continue to suffer. This came up for me today because I am not getting paid. I do gig work because I have a really hard time working in one place due to my brain. I’ve been waiting for checks from a couple places for weeks now because they’re dealing with turnover, new hires who no one has trained, and burnout. So when…
Seriously, trying to find entry level work with no experience is a nightmare. You try to show you've worked in other professions or you were an honor roll student but all they care about is “we require work experience”
I need to quit my job. They want to write me up for using my own PTO sick time above the “benchmark”/average of other hospitals they compare to. I went to the ER with chest pain last week. I have high blood pressure. I’m doing the job of 3 people with zero help. No one has even applied for the jobs I’m covering. It’s been 7 weeks. I cry every day. I would have my student loans forgiven ($70k) if I make it until June 2023. But I don’t know how. I need to have them forgiven. I’ve run the numbers over and over and over again. With my husband working, but without my income, I don’t know how to make it work. I carry the health insurance. He could get it but it will be more expensive. He pays child support. We could sell our cars for no car…
NC Unemployment appeals
I finally got notice of my appeal for NC unemployment compensation. My original claim was made July, last year. My hearing is scheduled for the end of the month. The state supervised mediation in the case is next week, I was notified only last month NCDOL cannot bring criminal charges against an employer. Their hesitance ensured my employer will not be held criminally liable in the state. I do have right to appeal to US DOL after the state investigation is completed, IF it is ever completed. One way or another, the worker starves and laws, their laws, are only there to protect the unjust from the downtrodden.
Today feels like January 2020 all over again. People especially business owners and managers don't give single flying fuck until the threat is right next door. I might be seeing the start WW3 or Armageddon and my boss is expecting me to go through 12 hours work day + unpaid overtime on holiday.
With the older generation needing more and more care as they go into the late stages of life, I see all of these positions for CNA’s and PCA’s (Personal Caregiver). I took a part time job here in the pan handle as a PCA working under a third party company in home health care. Holy…. Shit…. So I told them I’m getting my bachelor’s degree and I’m in my final year so things are getting tough. My availability was 3 days a week due to this. The first week I was scheduled, they put me on 6 STRAIGHT days in a row. When I called the scheduler about this, she didn’t understand the issue as I was still only scheduled for the 3 days a week that I asked for… Ok, learned my lesson there and after saying I literally would not be able to do almost a week straight…
Hi there. I'm a little surprised I can't seem to find more information or first-hand accounts of this on reddit. Long story short, I spoke to my closest coworker in confidence about another coworker harrassing me but they ended up getting reported to hr against my wishes. When my manager was notified, he lashed out, saying I framed him as negligent, even though that was not my intention. Since then, the manager has been retaliating. I don't want to go into great detail to preserve my anonymity, but he has gone out of his way to reject things along the lines of sick leave, promotions, bereavement leave, lunch breaks, etc., along with extreme micromanaging and yelling at me in the office. I enjoy my company and am looking to see if other opportunities are available, but am seeking advice on 1. How to handle retaliation and 2. Internal transfers without…
