I currently work as a contractor for a company. The contracting company has horrible pay and benefits. I applied to work directly with the company after working as a contractor for a full year. This would mean a pay increase and access to benefits. I worked for a full year with no pto, no sick, no nothing. They interviewed me and gave me a verbal offer which I agreed to. Rn I’m making minimum wage+tips which isn’t bad, but it isn’t great either. I’ve been working in the same place for a few years and am one of the most senior people working there, able to do almost everything to keep the place running. I told my boss that I’d like a $2 raise instead of the $1 raise that we normally get yearly, and laid out the work I’ve done in the past, and she actually said yes!!! Now I’ll be making $14/hr plus tips!! It feels so empowering to ask for something like that and actually have it go through. If you feel like you can I def recommend asking for a raise 🙂
I asked the boss to work Monday though Thursday or Tuesday through Friday. I said really the way it works out im only working the fifth day for weed money and I’d quit smoking for a 4 day week. Well anyway, I’m leaving at lunch. Happy Friday everyone!
