For me is $50. I am not working for $49.99
Hi all. I need some advice on how to talk to my boss about how I dont feel comfortable doing what she's asking. I work in a nail salon as a receptionist, and one of the techs recently bought out the original owner and is making some changes around the shop. There are three main techs, who im not super close with but I really like. They're cool people. For whatever reason though, the new owner keeps telling them they're replaceable, micromanaging them and basically having a “my way or the highway” type approach despite the techs being there for a long time and wanting to continue to work st this salon. What I do: Answer phones, clean towels, sweep, check out clients. My boss, since signing on, has been telling me “you're my eyes and ears when im not here, never forget that.” Multiple times, in that and multiple…
Worked as a temp here for a month
So I was working at a medical device company they hired me through a temp agency I reached my one month mark 2 days ago. Wake up today to a phone call from said temp agency that they terminated my employment. But yesterday to recap came in seemed like a normal day but about 2 weeks ago the plant head retired was a older more layed back guy, this is important later I didn't know him long and only talked to him in passing. Well my department lead comes in after going to a meeting with the New plant head. Says we are all under review and our jobs are on the line demanded 600 units per line in 8 hours we were running 2 lines. ” Enough bullshit make it happen” then leaves for the day as he's day shift and I work the night crew for this plant…
I've been thinking a lot about how wealth is accumulated through our current economic system of capitalism. We as consumers willfully make purchases we want. In turn, wealth is accumulated and some lucky few become ridiculously rich. This forum talks a lot about capitalistic exploitation, through things like price gouging. I think if we as a movement want to change things for the better we need to change our lifestyles. Why do we continue to eat fast food and shop on Amazon, effectively feeding the machine we seek to kill?
What are you antiworkers doing for work?
I’m curious what all of us antiworkers do for… well, work. And whether or not you’d generally recommend that field to an antiwork person. I work in a supermarket deli and NO, no I would not. Lol.
I work at a warehouse in the Midwest. It's not a huge company, but they are national. I was sent out to work in a different state for a while by the company. Helping with the operation of another warehouse. This area has about the same cost of living as we do, but the employees make 2 to 3 dollars more an hour. Keep in mind every employee there has been there for no longer than 4 months. Consider me, who has traveled for work. Been here for years and have worked my ass off. Or every one of my coworkers with the same job title as me or those workers in the other state. We are the highest performing warehouse in the company. How do we start? What steps should we take to organize before we go all in?
I work for a landscaping company in the Mid-West. We do snow removal in the winter. We have about 150 properties we service for snow that range from residential homes to apartment buildings to commercial businesses. Generally we go out around 4:00 am and work for between 5 and 8 hours on snow days. There's 6 crews. It's hard, labor intensive work, generally involving shoveling our asses off and driving all around the city in icy conditions. It's cold, it's wet, it SUCKS. We got the message during a night storm to be out and at our first property at 4:00 am the next morning. I looked at the weather forecast and saw that the storm would be over by 11:00 pm. I got to thinking and realized that if my crew got going at 11:00 pm and worked through the night, we could be done by 8:00 am and…
