Has anyone in this group successfully protested the return to the office?

Curious if there’s anyone in this group who successfully put up a fight when management announced return to the office plans. I cited the surging gas prices as one of many reasons I did not want to return. Our upper management shut that down immediately and said that commuting expenses have always been the worker’s responsibility and that it’s up to us to find cost effective transportation. Other than upper management that is set on returning, I otherwise love what i do

manager forgot to submit our timecards

This happened at my old job and was added to a lengthy list of reasons why I quit and moved on. My company once withheld my paycheck because my MANAGER forgot to submit my timecard. And not just my timecard, my whole team's timecards. 30 people and this man FORGOT to submit our timecards. He told us the following day and that our checks would be combined in the next pay period. I emailed HR and payroll and they refused to issue off cycle paychecks. I was more paycheck to paycheck at that time and didn't have a credit card to cover my back so it really fucked me up. Once I finally got my check, my monthly income wound up being less because it was taxed more. No one wanted to make it right and frankly your apology doesn't keep food on my table. Bonus quitting story: This same…

Suggestion: I’ve seen some people in the working world who think being entrepreneurial means ignoring major issues and taking advantage of people. That leads to massive turnover and dysfunction for the sake of “growing the business.” That’s not a good idea for anyone involved.

Forcing underpaid staff to work under terrible conditions, and not actively seeking to improve an organization's services or products, is terribly abusive. I have seen it happen too many times. I've seen people drop out of the workforce for years at a time because they were so emotionally scarred by their experience. Leadership has an obligation to create the conditions that lead to greater success for everyone involved, not just for oneself. Not paying attention to practical and obvious issues is negligent and should be criminal.

Gave my notice and was denied a half day off

For background, I put in my three weeks notice to my current job a week and a half ago. There’s some time off allotted to us that isn’t paid out when you leave the job, so I put in for a half day off to use just some before I go. This request was denied because it’s “not normal” to take time off after you’ve submitted your notice/resignation. Whatever, can’t wait to leave this job for the better offer I’ve accepted.

On Unity

Guys, we are most of us all workers here, or people affected by work. If there is a post that divides us, you should be hypercritical. Like saying people who have a little money shouldn't be here, or communists are just pushing their ideology, or whatever: if you're here and you believe in antiwork, that's what's important. Remember that the people in power have, for the most part, been in power for generations. Most of them are not stupid, or if they are, hire people to tell them how not to be. If a post looks like it MIGHT be there to sow doubts about if things are right, or if we should all come together, etc…it probably is there for that reason. Don't let it in your head. Think critically and, as always, organize!

Job wants to cut corners and save money. I don’t show up!

Quickie here. I and several other people work at a restaurant. Recently we have been short for months. Instead of hiring people or giving people overtime to help cover these shifts they make us do two different jobs with no extra pay benefit at all. This is purely so they can save money. However the bosses can afford “pizza parties” and “cheap tote bags” for appreciation instead of appropriately paying people. Literally I’ve seen my fellow coworker struggle doing two shifts at once in one sitting because our bosses don’t want to work themselves or save money from hiring anyone or paying OT. So This morning I called out! Now one of the bosses has to wash pots all day in her pretty little dress! Ha! Play with our money and our time you get to actually do what bosses are supposed to be doing. PAY US ACCORDINGLY!

Confused with “antiwork”

I think it would be more accurate to call this “antiwork culture” or “antiwork bullshit” because antiwork implies a dislike of work right? However , a lot of the people on here seem to be very hard working but are opposed to domineering, micromanaging bosses and corporations trying to screw them over.
