I've made a very strong case for at least trialling it for 6 months. The final hurdle is convincing the CEO, who wants to see examples of technology companies who have successfully transitioned. His main concern is that software developers need five days to get stuck into difficult work… I'm not a dev, so I can't speak to that with any authority, but it would seal the deal if I could point to dev teams that work well with this format. Do you know of any software companies who operate on a 4-day week? Much appreciated!!
I left my company at the beginning of the year when they want us to return to the office during the height of omicron. The company ultimately decided to push the return to office date to a later date. I was pretty much done with this company. We have made MILLIONS during the pandemic while working remotely. Upper management and board members even bragged these were are the most profitable years. But of course raises and bonuses kept getting smaller. More for them! I keep in touch with some of my close coworkers. Today my old coworker informed me that are making them return in March. With inflation and now increasing gas price, companies will start seeing more employees leaving. It doesn’t make sense to go back into the office if the work is getting done remotely. Sorry for my rant!
What the title says. I came in to seeing first shift had left some dirty dishes, they took down the bubblers (drink making machine kind of), and left them. I had never washed them and didn’t know how. I was there until 1 am doing dishes. Get texted in the morning about how they “don’t leave dishes” and how “we have a standard.” I’ve also been called out and humiliated in front of other employees by the boss.
I’m not trying to get political here, even though the problems that this sub was created to discuss come from politics. But it’s just absurd that someone who got paid $14/hr is saying this crap. It’s just so frustrating that there are still people out there, after all that’s happened in the last couple of years, that just don’t get that neither party has any intention of serving the working class. The government that governs America today was created to protect against waves of ideals because they didn’t trust the working class to know anything about government, but now the same system that was built into it to protect the people from corruption is the exact same system that protects the corruption from the people. Hate it all.
Started at a company, was told I would be making $16 an hour for the first 30 days. Turns out it’s actually for the first 90 days haha. High end custom cabinet assembly job paying less than McDonald’s or Jack In The Box down the street from where I live because “legally that’s how it is” . Have to have my own tools and they’re super strict since a single sink cabinet can go for about $1000. Started applying elsewhere and already have a few jobs lined up that are from $20-$25 an hour lol Boss makes a dollar, I make a dime. That’s why I poop on company time
Project manager had a complete meltdown today. She’s cutting corners because she is under pressure. I tried to explain to her a system related issue, she kept asking if it was reported to X person. Obviously, X cannot fix it as the issue is linked to configuration and I’m waiting for Y to confirm, and I told her that I did speak to X but he was busy and I’m waiting for Y as Y will go to X if necessary. Her reply in front of my team “you sit on your ass all day, get off it and go find out”. I told her not to speak to me like that, and that she released the system to us bypassing QA and it’s not my responsibility to run after resources when I escalate a possible risk to her impacting client sign off. She immediately started sulking after I told…
