WTF, free dinner or free shuttle home???
Fuck that. I would never work at any tech job when they felt a free dinner was a perk. Meta employees say goodbye to perks like on-site laundry | Engadget
My boss gave me some tasks to do and learn a new system for work. These were tasks to do when I had some time at home or in the store. I was told to log my time within our system. So far, I've invested around 15 hours. They saw how much I worked and deleted my hours from the system, saying they'll pay me in cash instead. I have access to everything so I downloaded an excel sheet with the times I worked just in case. However, I am wondering why they would do this. I am part-time, and the hours wouldn't have made me “full time” so I'm just curious as to why they would do this. Ultimately, it would save me money, so I can't complain much. However, I have had issues with cash deals with them in the past which makes me semi weary.
Anyone else getting weird vibes?
I'm a democratic socialist. I'm 100% here for labor activism in the United States and globally for that matter. We got big problems that need fixing, but I have just been getting wierd vibes from this sub sometimes. Like yeah fuck capitalists business owners, but glorifying people for just like quitting a job seems a bit jaded… idk anyone feeling some type of way… am I in the wrong sub? Idk
It’s my phone
If I choose to respond to a text when I'm not being paid that's my right. It is NOT your right to interrupt my time off with your drivel then say 'well I sent you a text' when I sit down with you in your office to discuss it. Fuck off. Now if you want to pay me for a company phone and let me charge ten minutes time for every text like my lawyer does me then we can talk. Until then. Fuck the hell off. Oh, and by the way, you should be hearing from him next week. Your next year is going to be hell having to make time for depositions and court hearings. I've got 20 people that used to work for your company lined up and ready to testify. The funniest thing is I don't care if I 'lose'. I'll win by wasting your time…
Quitting my cushioned tech job tomorrow
Recently was promoted to a managerial role after about two and a half years of unrecognized abuse from my manager. I tried to push through their comments and verbal outbursts, and was successful in tuning it out for my own career purposes. However, when I got into the new role and was already burnt out and now dealing with even more chaos, I decided this isn’t worth ruining my physical and mental health anymore. Our team manager was reported to HR by 3 different people on a small team (max 6-7 people at the time), myself being the 4th person to report. HR did nothing. Everyone brought the issues of verbal harassment and abuse, retaliation for reporting to HR, etc. to the attention of the director too, including myself once I was bumped into my new role. It was swept under the rug, and I haven’t heard anything since. I…
