I was having a second (virtual) interview with the same person and it was near the end of the interview – we probably would have been done in 5-10 minutes and she just leaves the meeting. I thought it might be an internet thing so I tried calling her and left her an email when she didn’t answer then emailed her again 24 hours later asking if everything was okay. Never heard from her but weeks later I got a generic thing from their organization saying they were pursuing other candidates. Keep in mind I didn’t say anything weird or rude just was asking some typical interview questions, and the interview seemed to be going well up (between the two conversations, we talked for over an hour and 15 minutes)
In 1912, the US Presidential election vote was split between 4 parties which each ran pro-worker candidates, including the Socialist Party. The idea that even 1 would have such an alignment in our elections today is seen as preposterous. What happened? The Soviet Union, which would would begin its formation in 1917. Once WW2 ended, the USSR and the US would be powerful rivals of each other. With this, American oligarchs found an opportunity. You see, while very progressive and Keynesian for its time, the postwar US was still undoubtedly capitalist in contrast to the communist USSR. They realized that the two superpowers' economic systems, while not nearly as divisive as their political ambitions, could be co-opted onto the conflict. This meant creating a false relationship between socialism and the USSR versus capitalism and the US. In effect, they tricked people into believing that to be a socialist was to…

I started a software development job a few months ago. Previous jobs I would go above and beyond, do things efficiently, and my reward was more responsibility, longer hours, and being told I can’t take time off because I’m the only one who can do all the responsibilities I had. Overworked and unappreciated. I had no life outside of work and was on call 24/7. This new job they asked me to work late — and they told me this at 5pm. It wasn’t an emergency. They just said it was “last second.” Cool. But no. If they want to fire me, that’s fine. I’m putting my foot down early. In my second week they said there was something I needed to do every Saturday night at a certain time. And I said “I’m not available then.” These problems are simply because they don’t plan well and then everything becomes…
My job let me be alone with a sex offender. Hi. I wasn’t sure where to post this. I felt this community would be accepting of my frustrations. I am a fast food manager. Today i found out that my employee is a level 3 sex offender. 20 years ago he used bodily force to rape a woman. I am honestly so disturbed and upset right now. I am a 19 year old small woman. The sex offender is a 50 year old 6 foot 250 pound man. They have left me alone in the store countless times with this man while closing. My boss knew this about him and failed to even give me a warning about the danger i could be in. It feels so fucked up. I could’ve been raped at work and they didn’t tell me. I don’t even give a shit if they aren’t legally…
