I tried to sleep 4-5 hours but I just feel terrible approaching the night and I sleep a dreamless(this is BAD thing)sleep for 10 hours next time..For years I used to think that if you slept 4 hours youll become very rich/rich people only sleep 3,4 hours..but now I realized that doesnt make sense medically. Thanks(?) to reddit I heard stories of/by offspring of rich people and their parents are things that its not polite to discuss in public. Thus I think meritocracy's reach and field of operation in the world is rather mild. Id rather stay in a comfortable middle-class residential area than live in a luxury apartment if I have to be in an office or dealing with partying trust fund babies most of my waking life. I am kinda hypnotizyng myself to not-desire luxury..sour grapes,or enlightenment? only time will tell.
Just a vent: I can’t find part-time work
I'm a student in college and I often feel very busy because of my classes. Even though I feel like I'm taking less than my peers are, I'm pretty heavily overburdened with work. Enough that I am working on it everyday but still sometimes just barely meeting deadlines. The problem is though that to move out I need to be able to have a job for at least 6 months (for rent) and to at least start to try to get some money to save towards it. But the past two times I've managed to get jobs under the guise of part-time or “weekend only”, it never was that. I'd have that in my computer as my availability but they would schedule me for five days a week, or considerable overtime (like opening to closing). I feel jaded into worrying that every job I apply to for part-time is going…

I just called out my former boss.
It was through my girlfriend's FaceBook account He truly was a lazy bastard. He sat in the office for far too long, had me sit with him for too long, and sat in the office with his supervisor just chatting too long. My girlfriend and I don't work for him anymore. He still talks shit about us. More to her family members. It really pisses us off. What really pisses me off is that he calls her a troublemaker. . He's cheating on his wife with her sister. My GF's mm believes her sister. All because of her former manager.
Gotta love the holidays
I never knew about this sub but I’d thought I’d share my story. I got my first job when I just turned 18 at a local McDonald’s. Being there was actually fun for the majority of it and liked everyone there and everyone liked me. I was working part time 20 hours a week with school. I was 5 months in and it was now December, the holidays are coming up. The managers told everyone they had to work 3 out of the 4 holidays in December. First red flag for me. I was supposed to go on holiday after Boxing Day. The holidays that where chosen for me were Christmas Eve and day and Boxing Day. Second red flag. This is what set me off. I was “forced” to work Christmas Eve and day from 10pm to 5am and wake up 4 hours later on Boxing Day and work…
So I was actively looking for other job opportunities (currently working but it’s a toxic work environment). I got called for an in person interview from another company in another city that’s practically almost an hour drive away. I had a good vibe from that team during the interview. They ended up liking me. I had that job offer. A day later; I noticed on Indeed that the same company was also hiring for a similar position in the city I am residing in. so I communicated my interest in this role as well to admin and I ended up getting that interview. I went for that interview (in person). There were two guys in the interview. One was close to my age it appears and the second (my potential boss) was probably in his mid to late 60s. Let’s call this second guy weirdo. I noticed that throughout the…
So I work at a very very profitable franchise that I won’t name. I am good friends with the owner of the franchise I work at who also owns several other of this franchise. He makes between $700k-1.2m per year in NET PROFIT per store. Recently he lowered everyones pay to $9.50/hr and then they get a few bucks of tips to make it add up to barely more than minimum wage. His total labor costs per store are half what his net profit is, meaning he makes twice as much money as the owner on each store than the 40+ employees it is very confidential how much he makes and he made me promise to him that I would never expose him. Recently I talked to him and strongly urged him to raise wages. He told me to f**k off and said if I don’t he has the money…
Every entry level position for sales i have applied to all end up the same i go to the interview the find out im 20 and they immediately turn off their brains til the end of the interview. How in the hell can young people expect to ever make at least 20 an hour to raise a family.
The Plan – Here’s What You Do
Everyone is always moaning on anti-work about there being no plan. Well here you go, premised on several factors. First, the presuppositions (not debating these, telling you what I think they are): Workplace organizing in the U.S. is dead, we lost, the system is set up to discourage and de-fang it, get over it, move on. The U.S. is a declining empire during one of the most political and ecologically volatile times in its history. This will result in power vacuums at the local and regional level in the future. Electoral politics in the U.S. is a choice between neo-liberal authoritarianism (Democrats) empowering fascism in the long term or outright fast-track facism (Republicans). Voting is only harm reduction in delaying facism, and that's questionable given Dems often deport, arrest, prosecute, and oppress more than Repubs in their stupid race to trip over themselves showing the American public they aren't commies.…
