What kind of life?
I do see a lot of ppl saying that work life is draining and they want something else. They don’t want to have to work forever or in their job, or for someone else. I’m curious to know what kind of life people want outside of what they currently have or what would make it more fulfilling or purposeful to you.
I've played a tons of game about managing a city, an empire or whatever, here's a few; Cities Skylines Every Civilization game Stellaris RimWorld Europa Universalis 4 Victoria 2 Crusader Kings 3 Banished As I play a game of RimWorld for example, I'll start producing more and more resources, allowing me to reduce the amount of work a single 'human' as to do, increasing productivity allows me to a point, to have everyone enjoy recreational activity almost 24h/7 When society increase productivity, the amount of work doesn't change, the amount of luxury and recreation people can afford has also stagnated for years So why is that? Why isn't it only logical for our government, that if we find a way to increase profits and productivity, people should have more money and more free time?
What are some good Facebook groups for Millennials to join?
Carl’s Jr. makes me mad.
Because their usage of stars is cultural appropriation.
It is a complete myth that weed is a safety issue. I have smoked weed almost every day for years, but I live a perfectly normal life. I’m not some stoner who just sits around and smokes all day. I got good grades in college, I’ve held a technical and detail oriented job for a long time, I have healthy and functional relationships, and I’m mentally active. I just happen to also like smoking weed. I feel pretty slighted by this old-timer perception that marijuana smokers are unproductive people who can’t concentrate to the point of being dangerous or unviable. It just shows how misinformed higher-ups are about what a real person who smokes weed is actually like. If you can drink some beers the night before work, but not a few hours before work, then I don’t see the difference with weed. It seems we need to get with…
Unpaid overtime?
I left my last job because it was common practice to work more than your contracted hours. Big city job with salary to suit… but detrimental to my personal health. I vowed to never work more than what I was paid for again. I'm now ~2 years into my current job, absolutely love it and feel valued. However, it's an R&D start up, and it's getting to the point where if we're not overworking – we may go bust and lose our jobs. The forecast (which I don't think is uncommon in startups), is that once we get the tech nailed down it'll be clean sailing. I don't think my current employer is exploiting us, and understand they may be between a rock and a hard place. However, I really don't want to fall into a similar spiral as my previous job. How do you think I should continue? Thanks
My friend is a trans boy, 21 yo. He has being dealing with depression for a while, but one of the good things that happened to him recently was finally to land on a job, although he got a barber certificate and started to cut hair at his home, but is not enough income, and he needs money for savings, living, and among other things, start HRT. He lives at his parent's home, so he doesn't pay rent. He found a job at as a secretary at a physical therapy clinic. The place seemed nice and started well. He arrived before the starting hours, stayed late, made extra hours, he did stairs up and down many times a day, helped with patients, even one night did hair cuts for the rest of the staffs. The thing is that the stairs were tiring and his back started to hurt from standing…
(Figurative) Masking @ Work
Not sure if this is the place to post this because it’s a privileged and trivial question in the scheme of things and I haven’t been diagnosed with autism (re:masking) but didn’t know what term to use. Does anyone else find great relief with not showing your true thoughts at work? I go, work, listen, answer when necessary, but it’s so relieving to me to give whatever answer the coworker/boss is looking for and move on, leave when the shift is over, and live my real life after work. Is this a thing? Am i just now catching on?
