YahooNews/People reports Bob Saget said he didn’t feel well before performing the night he died.

Who knows what the outcome would have been had he simply rested instead of going on stage. Don't work when you don't feel well. Even if you are literally non-replaceable. They say he fell and hit his head and that's what killed him. Well, before the show he said he was having trouble with his hearing, among other things. Messed up ears messes up balance. He also hadn't eaten any solid food as he had a sore throat. Don't work when you don't feel well.

Petition for a higher wage

Hello colleagues! I am asking for wording referring to a raise for my entire front of house staff at the hotel restaurant I’m employed at. Our current wage is 2.13 an hour and our location is Austin,TX. The service industry minimum wage has been 2.13 an hour for years and I’ve seen multiple job postings similar to my workplace at a higher rate. So some of my colleagues and I are motivated to request a higher hourly rate by signing a petition. I’m going to draft it and I’m looking for advice in the language that should be involved. My outline is a summary of why we believe we should be given a raise and then have a list of employees that have signed onto this request.

What are everyone’s thoughts on UBI?

It requires a restructuring of social welfare systems, but it has been proven to boost entrepreneurship and education for higher skilled positions. It seems like every pilot project for UBI has been proven successful and/or stopped before ending, usually through a change in government. The problem I see (aside from “eVeRyOnE wIlL sToP wOrKiNg” and “TAX!”) is money trickling up (a good thing) through the economy only to die when a mentally ill person (billionaires) hoards it after getting their hands on it.

I have a feeling my former employer blacklisted (is that the term?) me from getting any similar job in the city

I’m gonna call my former employer Frog Care Center (FCC), it was a nursing home/rehabilitation center and I worked there for 2 years. The reason I left FCC was because of the constant bullying, homophobia, harassment, and even verbal abuse from my coworkers and supervisors/managers. I was also overworked with little to no help and was blamed for things I had no knowledge of because they didn’t communicate that to me (or anyone). The environment was so toxic it had started to affect my mental health and made me super depressed. But yeah I think I was blacklisted because my manager had beef with me because a few months back I texted her requesting my working weekend off because my mom had a serious UTI that resulted in a terrible kidney infection, making her unable to take care of herself. She said ok. The next day I was supposed to…

Ex-boss offered me a freelance consultancy to complete an urgent task, but they are taking forever to prepare my contract.

Context: up until 2019, I worked for 3 years at an international organization where the pay/benefits were fantastic but the working conditions were horrendous, disorganization was rampant, and I was generally miserable. Fast forward 3 years: I've moved to another country and have a lower paying job that I love. Ex-boss approached me with a request for a consultancy to complete an urgent task due in 10 days. I agreed, as I have some time and figured I could use the extra cash and this would only bind me to them for a brief period of time. Well it's now only 7 days away from when they want the final report delivered, and I have yet to receive any contract with a financial offer, despite clearly indicating my availability to do the work. Right now, nothing legally binds me to them to do the work. So my choices are basically…

Signed a Contract to Work 8 Hours in the Office for a Week and Then Everything Changed

My work was to create digital resources for schools. The work had to be a mix of tests, worksheets, flashcards, etc. My contract terms were to go into the office for 8 hours to complete work which could not leave the premises. My boss said that she had 15 items a week, and I had to help her with whatever I could, but it had to be done there. One item takes around 30 mins -1 1/2 hours. Basically, I could do 13/15 items in 8 hours a week. I was paid monthly as well. At first, everything was fine. My boss saw that I made exceptional resources and I sat next to her, so I was never on my phone or slacking off. I only showed up to work two days of the week to do my 8 hours, so I was there for four hours each day. One…

Thoughts on making a list of companies that treat their companies good/bad?

I see a lot of posts about shitty companies and a few about some awesome companies. Has anyone thought about making a public list of good and bad companies, so people trying to find work can reference it?

At what moment did you first start to doubt the system?

For me, it was when I was 16, and my manager at McDonalds told me to come into work even though I was puking my guts out with the flu. So yeah. That was my first clue. What was your moment?
