Leaving my job, some thoughts on that.

As the title says, I’m leaving my current job and had a farewell get together dinner. The manager and couple of colleagues showed up and at the end, we all ended up paying for our food. It was weird because in previous farewell gatherings, the manager payed for the entire meal. But this time, it panned out differently. I think this added up because of the fact that there was only one team activity outside of our work and that was back in 2018. Nothing else after that. I just feel like I gave my ALL in my last 5 years but the way my exit is being handled left me feeling upset. Is this how it is in most of the workplaces? I mean, I do not expect to have a fan fest, but a simple thank you would’ve been nice. I want to move on from this incident,…

This job takes too much from me and leaving makes me anxious

So it’s my third year in the company, I’m paid 25h per week (850€ a month) with availability hours going from 55 to 62. I’m constantly looking at the schedule because they sometimes change it at 2 am when I start at 11 am or 13 pm and i took the habit of constantly looking at it, I’m getting trashed by my boss, he told a medical emergency I had to all my coworkers. I am constantly tired, sad, i dream of work when anxiety allow me to sleep, I can’t see the end of it and I’m feeling so fucking depressed all the time. I developed bad habits like not cleaning or making myself food, I can’t find motivation to do anything I like even on my days off and, yeah that’s pretty much where I’m at. Today a coworker of mine handled a 2 weeks medical leave, and…

How bad does it look for me to be absent on the day of a specific training?

So I got an email from another manager pretty much appointing me and another person to track their professional learning courses. I have been in this job for almost a year and have never done that. I do not report to this manager, I report to an assistant director who is over her. From my short time being here, I noticed that she “takes on” several tasks and gets a promotion or title change and then once this happens she starts distributing the tasks to other people all the while she keeps the promotion. I asked her several questions about the task she assigned me and then I inquired with my direct supervisor and he was like you can attend the training and I guess bring any information to us if applicable. The thing is that this sh*t is a waste of my time and resources. I really don't care…

Fair notice

I work for a local office supply and furniture company I am a “co-manager” and do ALOT for the business I had a beautiful boy in July and worked very hard to pay off debt. The person that was above me when she quit she made a comment that the owner was mad she gave a 3 month notice I’m planing on giving about a 6 week notice so I can make sure I get my vacation time I deserve. Is that fair?

Best way to get a job I’m under qualified for?

Can I just copy the requirements of a job into my resume? Will employeers actually check if you graduated from a specific college or what degree you have? I just want to show up and google anything I don't know is this possible? If I give fake references or prior work numbers and list the numbers of family and friends for business listings and they give me good recommendations will this work? Any tips or advice to pull this off would be awesome.

Speaking of toxic companies…

GeToo is helping GE employees fight back! General Electric, like many toxic companies, uses forced arbitration to deny justice and demand silence. They choose the arbitrators and refuse to disclose which ones they’ve used in the past. So GeToo is doing it for them. Learn more at www.getoo.us/arbitrators

co worker smashed finger a year ago and now wants to sue

A co-workers girlfriend started working with us we make hydraulic cylinders from the raw materials. Well last year in January some time she smashed her finger in a hydraulic press, the prognosis wasn't good but she decided to try and save the finger its been about 8 months and she's been on workers compensation and when she could she came back and worked part time hours while collecting partial workers comp. This month she got almost half of her finger amputated due to the injury. Its her right index finger which is her dominant hand. Me and co worker were trying to figure out if she would be able to seek a lawyer at this point now that she wasn't able to save 100% of her finger. So we are just curious if she has any grounds for legal action .

starting a supervisor position

Hey guys! I just need some advice on how to be an effective and decent supervisor, most of my experience is in automotive and I just landed what I think can be a great career as a quality supervisor. I have supervising experience but I am still extremely nervous when going into this role.. What are some good tips that you may have for me to succeed in performing and being the best that I can be? I haven't gotten a layout of what my day to day will be, but I am learning every step of the different stations/processes in the next two weeks and asking as many questions that pop up but what are some questions you would ask to get a feel for a job you aren't sure about? Any advice you would be appreciated. Thank you.
