I have an interview on Monday for a custodial position within a school district. The pay is $11/hour “non-negotiable.” That's garbage pay, obviously. I asked the guy about raises when I spoke to him on the phone. He said something like 2% raises per year were standard. How do I make these people understand that I need a living wage to work this job??
Chasin’ Gooses
At my work when someone says “What's up?”, we don't say “Not much”, we say “Chasin' gooses and droppin' deuces!” which translates to “my work is futile and I take frequent poop breaks” and I think that's just beautiful
Annual bonus repayment
I worked for Thermo Fisher Scientific I quit the day I was paid my annual bonus. I worked there every day required to receive that bonus and today I get a letter in the mail saying I was over paid and telling me to send a personal check in the amount of $1,500 back to them and if I did they would ensure my 2022 W-2’s were correct. Seems like they are threatening me with my W-2 also fuck them
For an overnight remote job
Anxiety is through the roof
Hey All, First I am on mobile so I am sorry for the formatting. TL:DR : I asked for a raise and now I feel like human trash but maybe I shouldn’t . I work in film and yesterday my start of show rates and dates talk with the PM . Being the head of department I can negotiate my rate. I decided that for the first time in 5 years I would ask for an increase instead of taking what they offer. During the call I asked if I could get a rate increase and explained that I have a different skill set then most in the same department and without this skill I have would have to hire outside help like 99% of others do. I also mentioned that I was making the same as an assistant in another department and that I wasn’t as on par with…
Say that 10 times fast. Lol. Not sure if this is the right sub or not. Context: I work at a store, that sells things. My coworker called out. I’ve been told previously that when calling out, you need to speak to who we’ll call the “assigned leader” or AL. The AL is assigned every day and there’s usually more than one, for different parts of the day. It’s most common for employees of my ranking to be assigned this, even when higher ranking employees are present. Almost all of my shifts I’m AL. My coworker who called out had already texted me before I got to work to express that they felt more comfortable talking to me when they called, so I said I would do my best to be the one to answer the phone. We use a computer program where the ALs for the day are listed,…
I worked at a gas station that has a full kitchen. It's very popular in the midwest for pizza and such. Last Friday I worked the first half of my shift in the kitchen. One of the managers came in to relieve me. I finished my dishes and cleaned up my stuff before heading to the cooler to do the other part of my job. A little while later I was called back to the kitchen to do someone else's dishes and clean up their mess. I refused because it wasn't my responsibility. I was then told to clock out and go home for insubordination. I also refused to do that. I didn't feel that I had done anything wrong. Eventually I did the dishes just so I could be left alone to do what I needed to do. I worked Saturday and Sunday and everything seemed fine. I was…
Love my job, hate the management
So i started this new job which is 10x better than my old one. Better pay, better hours, closer to home, you name it. So far i really liked everyone including my managers. But these last 2 weeks im starting to see why everyone dismisses them. They're just….ughh The sub manager always speaks in a condescending tone trying to use corporate language but it just comes off as rude. They love gloating how they were in my position for 10 years so they know how things run but when it comes down to helping when were low on staff they are the laziest ive ever seen. They dont understand what “coverage” means if i still have to do the work on the day or time I was not present your not covering you're holding a space Today took the cake We were low on staff so I had to help…
I’m just curious to know. I’m kinda bored and tired and don’t wanna be a cashier no more. I wanna do something that won’t stress me out or have to break my back to make a few bucks. What do you guys suggest?
