“Land of the free”??

This country and it’s working conditions force 90% of its population into debt that can never be paid back in any kind of reasonable time. You can’t even leave the country for good without being required to pay income taxes. If you refuse you are never allowed back. The only way out is to revoke citizenship and even that isn’t easy. No other country has any sort of tax laws like this. Don’t believe me look it up How is this freedom? We only exist solely to put money in the 1%s pockets. We’re forced to work in crap conditions and even though we’re told there’s labor laws reporting them is sure to backfire on you and for most people that means loosing everything. The land of the free is the biggest lie we are ever told, nationalist propaganda is shoved down our throats at a very young age and…

Just had a conversation with my boss about a $4.50 discrepancy between me and another individual who got in without any experience whatsoever. Is it against the law to do this or to ask me not to discuss this again?

Basically the title, but I started at a new job in the US, and I won't provide much background for my own job safety, but essentially I have a few years background in the field, while my coworker, who personally spoke to me, stated he had no experience at all, as in had no idea how the job worked at all, got on at an astronomically higher pay rate. What do I do in this situation? I've spoken to my boss and was told that “there are good reasons” and may have mentioned that it was even unlawful to discuss other employees pay rates as well as inappropriate. In no uncertain terms she told me she doesn't want me speaking about it or any other employees speaking about their pay rates, because they would misunderstand, and there's reasons behind the decisions, regarding experience and quality of work. Except my coworker…

Was trying to write a summary for a resume; wrote this instead

I’m trying to write a sentence To make myself look good so that I can sell myself To an employer I don’t know To do work I don’t care about To make money I need money to survive I need money to live I need money to thrive And to get it, I need to sell my body, my soul, my mind… my time But what does it even mean to sell your time? I know I sure as hell can’t ever buy it back What they want is my labor, but they purchase my time But how is owning a person’s time any different from owning that person? I suppose it doesn’t last forever. But it seems I have to sell all the best moments That my life is to amount to very little other than doing the work to make my purchaser rich And then living off the…

Got in trouble at work today for finishing my workload and doing 20 minutes of overtime.

So generally speaking I’m not anti-work. More work-indifferent. I like my job, it pays fine, my coworkers are okay. Generally speaking I’m the most productive of my co-workers (not a brag and I don’t try hard to be I just don’t have some of the same stresses/impacts and I’ve been in my job longer). Normally I get my work done on time and rarely make mistakes. So I never take over time. Like maybe once ever. Today I made a mistake. Now it wasn’t a huge one but it is one that’s technically above my pay grade to fix. I let my manager know and they suggest how I need to fix it. I’ve only fixed it once before so it takes me a while to fix it. After that I finish the rest of my tasks and clock out. Only to receive a message telling me I’m promoting a…

Pallet Building is a solid job over anything hourly

So in a pallet building manufacturing, you get paid by the product, mostly it’s 1CAD per pallet, so in a 10 hour shift, I can make about 450 Pallets, which translates to 45$/hr. Which is enormously high if you work in hrly pay

I got petty and responded to a rejected job offer

I'm a mid-20s guy stuck doing school photography. During the holiday season, I was told I would have 3 weeks off of work. No biggie. Ended up being 9 weeks without working and I missed 2 months of rent purely because my boss kept lying to me. Used this opportunity to look for new jobs and, as many of you are probably well aware, the current job market sucks. I only found one job that pays more than my current, as well as full benefits (parents are retiring, this is a must), and conveniently I have a friend that works for them. I apply to an opening they have. They then close the opening because they don't “need the job until the summer.” My friend stuck their neck out for me, “Bluecanna really wants this job and needs it now, and if you hire him he can be trained and…
