In my personal experience, the most career-minded and work-as-lifestyle people I know have identified as women. Meanwhile, the people I know who view jobs as nothing more than a way to get money have tended to be men. I can't speak for any other gender identities.
Katt Williams & This Sub
We could all learn from Mr. Williams’ bit about weed. “I know some of yall don’t smoke weed cuz yall gotta good job. And by all means, make your paper, bubu. But if you aint got no job, and you not smokin weed, I dont know what the fuck you doin wit yo life. I really dont. There is a chemical in weed that’s called “fuck it” and if you can get that up in yo system it will change yo life. Sumyall be cryin about bills you can’t pay. Got your kids lyin: “My daddy say he aint home!” Some of yall be like “I dont know what Im gonna do! They want the whole thing! They dont want a piece of it! I dont have money to pay the light bill!” Just hit the blunt one time! You be like “Im so afraid! Can’t pay the light bill”…

Can my boss make me take vacation?
I’m leaving a job soon (in like 2-3 weeks). Any unused vacation time gets paid out at the end of my employment. My boss just came into my office and said “you have to take vacation tomorrow”. Can he do that?
Apologies if this is posted in the wrong place, but I figure this sub has a similar attitude to mine, and might have some people who’ve had experience with this, or are also looking for advice. I currently work “part time” for a non-profit theatre in PA. Of my 15 coworkers in production, 8 of us are “part time”, working 30hrs a week over 4 days. Now, I say “part time” because we work full days M-Th, but we’re told that we shouldn’t be considered full time/receive benefits, since we can just ‘pick up outside gig work in our “ample” free time’. I was slightly horrified to find out, after discussing with most of my coworkers, that I’m making the second highest (a whopping $17/hr!) of the part time staff, and I’m the newest hire (dec. 21). Maybe irrelevant, but most of us hold undergraduate degrees in our respective fields.…
I work hard, I’m punctual, and I don’t dick around like the rest of the guys. There are a lot of workers around me that get paid a lot more than I do, for a lot less work. Inflation is so insane, it’s getting harder and harder to find the motivation to work for the pay I get. I feel a raise would help me get some motivation back. How do I even go about asking for a raise? I’ve never had to ask.
Today was the birthday of a colleague. This specific colleague has been through the ringer lately. She has been absolutely miserable. A little while back she faked a positive covid test to call in sick because she simply needed a mental break. The past two weeks she's had another three breakdowns. This morning when I arrived was one of them. Once she'd calmed down a little I asked what happened and apparently manager had chewed her out basically as soon as she entered. It was shitty. Unfortunately not out of the ordinary. What was out of the ordinary, since it was her birthday, I got her a little present, which some of my teammates saw me gift to her. Realizing it was her birthday, they went to the shop during the lunch to get her a gift as well. It was great. Despite it being small things, it seemed to…
