I made the mistake of trying out the sales field and decided I do NOT like my job. I’ve been “with the company” as a 1099-contracted employee since January. I spent a lot of money on getting licensed and spent a lot of unpaid time getting trained. I’ve felt like they kind of tricked me into getting this far because everything they told me ended up being too good to be true. Every time something negative came up, they sugar coated it & made it seem like I would never run into those problems again. Apparently in this industry, there’s a thing called “chargebacks” so almost all of the money I’ve made (commission) has been paid in advanced but since a few of my clients canceled their services (something beyond my control), the company wants the money they paid me back. So I “owe” the company money & I feel…
I have the perfect job: a job so untaxing with very little to do, I end up working 1 hour a day. It's WFH (for now) and gives me ample time to do other things– as well as full-time pay. My colleagues are lovely and it's low stress. I love travel and have backpacked at least 7 times around the world but after 3 years at my current company, I'm itching to travel again for 2-3 months. I'm 31, female, have plenty of savings and a crashpad with family for when I come back. Am I foolish to give up such a good job? No it's not my dream job/field but I value more a job that gives me the flexibility to do productive stuff and pursue hobbies in my free time. I'd love to have a career in something I'm interested in but no clue what that would be.…
For the details, I work Healthcare on the dme side. I process o2, walkers, wheelchairs, all that fun stuff. I'm pretty usually on time for my scheduled breaks and take them when I'm supposed to but I had a complex case today that consisted of a split order because my patient was in a different state and then I needed to file the paper work resulting in me taking my break now, at 5pm even though I get off at 530. My case was stressful with a lot of hoops to jump through and I felt I'm still entitled to my break, yknow. I still worked my hours and cared adequately for my patient to ensure her dme was delivered to the right place with a trusted party for when she returns home from out of state. But my boss, a few months ago, said that we are forbidden from…
Just applied and now I’m panicking/rant
Hi, been a lurker here for some time, thought since I might be potentially working again, I thought I would finally post something. For context, I am a 35 years old guy, been out of work since the start of the pandemic, former waiter making 14 hr plus tips, living with my dad to help save money who once said “it doesn't matter if they pay 8 dollars an hour, you just got to work!”, burn out. All the jobs I have seen in my area are either paying to low or I just don't have the credentials despite being a college grad. I finally bit the bullet and applied for a stocker position at a big chain warehouse and just today got a message saying they want to schedule an interview, and panic immediately set in. Now for the record I've had warehouse and warehouse-like jobs in the past…
Call for Submissions: “Now Firing!”
Looking for first-person nonfiction submissions from people who have either quit or been fired for “Now Firing!: Further Tales of Disemployment,” an international anthology about work gone horribly awry. There's an exit-interview form in the guidelines (or I can send you the questionnaire as a Word file).
General manager stupidity at its finest.
So I work 2 jobs (manufacturing plant and mcdonalds. Mcds just for the fuck of it.) Now on Sunday at the plant I got hurt, went home early, and slept until Monday when I was supposed to work at mcds. I wake up to a barrage of texts and missed calls from the GM and I'm like hey sorry I got injured and have been sleeping I can't make it. She says okay get well yada yada, then proceeds to tell me who is there and asks me if I can help like, wtf. Finally I said maybe I can at 11 if that's okay, she doesn't reply so i stay home and rest. I only work one day maybe two depending if I work OT at the plant. Week goes by, I check the schedule and she's taken me off which is laughable considering I worked there for nearly…
think they'll come to the table on my terms or do i get to have some vengeful but legal fun? https://preview.redd.it/6zatbg10pmo81.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6a20c0a8b7097dbd42f1b6a7fe924150857a1dab
Feel how you want about doordash, I haven't ever had the freedom and income of this gig job before and I love it. What I don't love, is being told how to do my job by someone I've never met, and then asked to leave and stop bothering the customer. The unnamed store is super busy so I go stand off to the side and wait like I normally do until someone is free. They tell me it'll be a bit, so I say no problem that's fine. They ask me the name, and grab the order and start getting it ready. Some 60 year old white dude behind me starts telling me to do it a certain way, that no wonder I can't get any other job, that he knows best because he owns a restaurant and that people like me are the reason doordash sucks. He doesn't let…
