Reminder to everyone in the Corp world. Do not help out another team without getting it in writing that will be weighed against your end-of-year review and it will get you a full number advancement. For doing your job where I work you get a 3, if you bust your ass and become all things to all people and never say no to anything you might get a 4. To get a 5 you have to be a god, I've had 6 5s over my career. When I was asked to help out the other team last week I said I need it in writing that I will be rewarded for doing my job and their job too. I said this in front of three of the managers. They said you need to be a team player. I am a team player, I'm a team of 1 me! When the…
Autism and the Job Market
Hey antiwork just looking to vent a bit and see if anyone has meaningful advice. I'm a 30/M/US and was diagnosed as autistic late in my life at 26. This diagnosis was earth shattering for me as so many things suddenly made perfect sense and I now became hyperaware of all my tics and masking and how toxic it had made me as a person. 4 years on I feel emotionally better but my work history is complete and total garbage. For those not in the know adults with autism have absolutely abysmal job outlooks. 80% of us are either unemployed or under employed and my job history reflects that well. I've never worked anywhere more than 2 years and have been fired from five (I think?) jobs in the past 7 years. And have burned bridges with virtually everywhere else I have ever worked. Guys I'm frustrated as hell.…
Tbh I’m really just done. I like to get my work done quickly at my job and leave ASAP. For me, as long as my bills are paid, then everything else is fine. There are others at work though that milk their hours for all that they’re worth, and I’m fine with that as long as it doesn’t affect me, which it has. Today I got done at my 4 1/2hr mark. I could have left, but was made to stay for another hour and a half since someone else hadn’t finished their job. They could have finished early. They had help, but they wanted to milk it. And of course if they don’t have help for the last bit they have to do, they’ll pitch a fit. The thing is, whenever I’m left by myself to do something, and this person is done early, they get to peace out.…
I did find out the new person’s pay. And I’m going nuts. Fucking hell. The whole system is designed for us to struggle. For us to be exploited for profit. I can’t take it anymore. I almost got ahead coming out of the pandemic only for this to happen. The company even prides itself on being “woke” which makes it even more of a low blow. Gonna go get drunk about it today then go looking for my bootstraps tomorrow. Just had to vent. This really stings.
Gotta start them young

Accused of being a SEXIST
Hello all! 25M here based out of MA. So about 6 months ago, I started at this company, & loved it! Great team, great culture & by all means a great company to work for. About 4 weeks after I had started, a new person is hired & my trouble began. To give you perspective, the company I work for, has great emphasis on that titles are just a formality, everybody’s equal, but to keep some type of hierarchy in place, we all report to the “manager”. Back to our story…The new person that is hired, is hired as an assistant manager. No form of authority of any kind, just a title is all it is. She came off a little strong right off the bat trying to issue silly & stupid orders like go take your lunch at this time, or do this this way & such…I respectfully decline,…
