As someone who is not a big negotiator or aggressive enough, I appreciate it when the manager automatically assumes I am and try to preemptively reach my targets. And that only happens when they've been traumatized by aggressive extrovert candidates who fight to set standards. So even if you decide to skip on something, put up a fight before you withdraw, it helps the next one line.
I currently work for a major healthcare system in south Florida. I have my degree in ultrasound and have been looking to move up for quite a while. The supervisor agreed to an interview with me and would provide someone for me to scan. I spent pretty much the whole night studying so I can be prepared for it. I didn’t sleep so I was already tired by the time the interview began. The “interview” was a 15 minute lecture on why they won’t hire me. There were no questions regarding my skills or qualifications. They didn’t even have me scan! It was really unprofessional and a waste of time. I’ve worked at the company for years so why is it so hard for me to receive a fair chance to pursue my career?
If you have a remote job make sure you do work on a work laptop. Then have a desktop for when you want to do gaming, YouTube, streaming, or web surfing.
I have to vent
I am an elementary school teacher. We have illness just running RAMPANT through our school and grade. More than a QUARTER of the entire grade is out sick right now with flu and strep and who knows what else. 28 kids out of 78. And do we have functioning heat? Nope. So what are we told to do? Open the windows. But it is FREEZING outside, and where my classroom is, the wind comes HAMMERING through like a damn cyclone, so now my classroom is FREEZING cold, and my kids are wearing jackets, and my hands ACHE and I'm literally sitting at my damn job SHIVERING, trying to fucking teach, and kids are begging to learn in the hallway because at least the hall is a LITTLE warm? So I ended up CLOSING the windows, and now all we have is the univents, which are blowing…
we care a lot
I make $20/hour. No, no you don't. You make $20 – federal tax – state tax – health benefits – 401k contributions…
