More of a rant than anything else. Some context first: I work in a school and I have a condition called PCOS and I needed to book an appointment to the doctors because my symptoms are getting worse and I need to see if everything is ok to avoid possible surgery or to change treatment. Anyway, so I book my appointment and I fill out through my leave of absence form. I say I apologise it's last minute but this is an urgent appointment and I'll only need the morning off. Manager responds with “is it really urgent when you have Easter coming up soon?” I respond by saying “I do understand but I have a condition called PCOS which means I'm in a lot of pain and recently my symptoms have developed and I really need an appointment to see if I need an operation or change my treatment”…

i told my boss i got into a little car crash and i have to miss work on a saturday, he wants to see paperwork and i feel like it’s an invasion of privacy. how do i get around showing him anything without getting fired

I’ve had a new job for 2.5 years ish, which isn’t bad..I make 18 now but overtime is easy and it’s quite relaxed there, but I would really like to talk about this job I had in this regions largest solder paste manufacture and even list the company at the end of my rant… I’m just afraid it will be a tldr and people will miss what I’m trying to say, but I really wanna tell all…would u guys read it if I posted it

Just a quick one. Had someone call me up to do a survey over the phone- it was about opinions on the current labour situation in our province. After a number of questions about the labour market, the next question she asked me was, “As far as hours of work are concerned, do you feel you would want: A) More working hours, or B) The same?” I answered, “Less”. She stuttered. “L…Less?” “Yeah.” She didn't have an option to input that and was genuinely gobsmacked. I thought it was cute enough to write it out here.

This entire sub sounds like a winey echo chamber. I took out huge loans with no ability to pay them back. I NEED FREE LOANS. I spent 100 grand and got drunk for 4 years now I need to Pay the loans back, THE ESTABLISHMENT fucked me. YOU GOT A LOAN, YOU SPENT ALL THE MONEY. WHAT THE FUCK IS THE PROBLEM??????????? Hello! This happened a while ago so I apologize if my memory is spotty, am also on mobile so sorry for the formatting as well! I work at a retail company(won't give out specifics for privacy reasons) that sometimes has managers that take themselves too seriously. It's retail, not a fancy schmancy business. A while ago, I got promoted to lead cashier, which is basically a fancy title for cashier who gets paid a dollar extra and has manager numbers. My manager at the time(who has since left), we'll call her H, was very into a “happy, family-like store” model, outlawed swearing in ANY form, had specific rules(such as lanyards are required, high heels/nice shoes are required even if you're on your feet for 7 hours, and if you did a minor fuck up, she'd act like it was cause for a verbal warning).
