Seriously. Is management's job just to yell at people to look like they're working? Or do I have it all wrong. Please, share your side.
LPT: Don't stay in a toxic environment hoping you'll gain some sort of respect with people. To them, you are simply under their thumb and expendable. I worked in a start-up in late 2020 related to the degree I had gotten in college, biochemistry. My supervisor was an alumni at my college, so I thought we could get along, but it turned out she was a borderline sociopath who would throw adult temper tantrums when things weren't done exactly her way, even if higher ups told me to do something otherwise. I hoped to gain some sort of respect, in the hopes of getting a reference, but it ended in disaster with her verbally abusing me in front of co-workers, that I had “molested” the company, and told me to get out. Not allowing myself to be treated like shit so much, I lashed out on her and told her…

Can we please popularize the Question: WHAT DO BILLIONAIRE-OLIGARCHS DO WHILE WE'RE ALL AT WORK????
work paying me in cash?
Just curious if anyone knows anything about this. But basically cashed my check from work & it bounced due to 'Not Sufficient Funds'. Texted someone from HR & said they'd pay me in cash. Maybe I have the worst stamina or work ethic in the world but I can barely go through a full month without feeling like I need a good rest or that it’s taking a toll on me physically. Honestly I have so much respect for you guys. Even during school I would use up the days I’m able to take off without causing administrative problems.
People just take free stuff!
Overheard a rant at work today. I work in an office environment that recently started providing free snacks and drinks to the employees. Nothing like the free food at Google, but enough to be appreciated. The office administrator, who is in charge of restocking, was ranting to anyone who would listen about how bad it was to give free and drinks to employees because…..(get ready to be shocked) they're just going to take it and not buy their own stuff. This individual was of the baby boomer generation and was known to rant against providing tea and coffee to employees (which was prior to offering drinks and snacks) because once again, people would use it. Now, I'll be the first to admit that some people exploit the free stuff (picture drinking 4 red bulls during work hours, then taking one for the drive home), but most people will only occasionally…
