with a convenience store worker making nearly $27 an HR and still be antiwork? I'm like thinking that's like almost $200 a day $250 including overtime….5 50 dollar bills for a day's work… I live in a first world country and here we get like $70,$80 a day?5 years ago it was like $60. I would just say fk it and viva la corporacion!!!
Inflation will hit 10% soon.
Wheat prices exploded today with war and sanctions in russia. Oil and gas is trending upwards. Shifts in the bear-stock market will lead to money being thrown at the housing market. Rents will go up even further. Wheat and oil prices will make groceries more expensive soon. Add to that higher transportation costs. And if you are a renter, god help you. At least 35% of americans are renters. If they want to survive, they better get armed for hard times are coming.
how to deal with post-lunch coma
this is obviously not much of an anarchist post, moreso a “how do i deal with daily struggles of working”. after lunch, i become extremely sluggish and tired and unmotivated. it is hard to focus on work and can't think of much else than just wanting to go to home and sleep. how do y'all deal with this feeling? so far ive just been powering thru – it results in me working slower, and not being as productive, obviously, but eh, maybe there's another way? just need to hear some spitballing on this. having depression and then being hit with this post-lunch coma is kind of a bummer, in my day-to-day life. hard to focus on work that way. so uh .. yeah.
Internal transfer being blocked
I am an engineering manager at a high tech company. 2021 was…bad. I moved to manage a new team and then 8 people quit. I spent most of the year making what limited changes I could to improve team morale and failed. I ended the year the least healthy I have been in 10 years. I am monstrously unhappy and it is impacting my relationship with my wife and kids. The company I work for pays well and has great benefits so I decided to apply for internal transfers. I interviewed and got one, my boss approved the transfer and I am supposed to transfer at the end of March. Until yesterday, my director came to me and said he and the director of the new department agrees to delay the transfer until my replacement could be hired. In my experience this is an 6-12 week process and the number…
Pretty much what the title says. Applied for a leave from Thursday of a certain week to Tuesday of the week that will follow, got a mail saying “Saturday and Sunday will be counted as leaves as well”. IT'S A FIVE DAYS WORKING COMPANY WITH MANDATORY WEEKEND OFF.
Filed a report with the department of labor initially… How can someone just not pay an employer? Morally and legally f-ed up. I paid taxes on money that I legitimately didn't receive. Haha
I have been in director position at a chaotic company for a few months and just put in 2 weeks notice. The response has been to just give me a list of urgent demands and guilt trip. I don’t need this job and would enjoy additional vacation before new job, however, I was trying to “do the right thing” because I know my departure will be tough to absorb right now and I don’t want to cause stress for my colleagues. I’m really wondering if it’s worth it. Have others been in a similar position? Did you stick it out?
