We all hate work, I know. But I don't know how you hate it and still go. Still give a majority of your life to that shit. I'm in desperate need of help, anything to help me stop hating it so much. I'm struggling every day because of my mindset but I can't just accept it and move on. I don't know what to do. I keep looking for other jobs but nothing appeals.
A few weeks ago I applied for a job as a barista for a large chain coffee shop. The job description was to work as a “Barista only”. Now, logically we all know that's focused on making the coffees. That's all well and good. I put my application through. It was also supposed to be a fixed shift. (We can get to that point in a minute) The promise was for me to be trained as a barista and work as ONLY a barista for a 40 hour a week contract. Anyway, I walked in on my first day and sure enough, after receiving uniform and having my tour of the shop, I was told the traditional “get stuck right in”. I wasn't shown how the tills operated, nor where any of the food, coffee or any other drinks were stored, and was expected to get on with it. Although…
Listing remote work on an in person job…
I have been looking around for jobs lately and noticed that there are alot of jobs tagged or claiming to be remote. You open them up and the job description involves non remote work… Anyone else running into this alot?
If your business plan can’t pay for wages and benefits then you you don’t have a business. That’s a front for wage theft and you running a legal scam. A job doesn’t owe people, people should avoid off book work and other shady situations. Getting paid crappy wages and no benefits is a shady situation. When you have so many charts, earning limitations and requirements to get education, training, food, housing it’s like we handing these folks to the scammers. I support basic income and any plan that ruins the scammy exploitative people that just want to live off exploiting their fellow persons. No one owes you a business. If your business model is hiring people for as little as you can to get the most out of flipping houses or to be some kind of land lord, guess what, that’s a front for living off other peoples work. There’s…
I just got my pay review…
So I've been at my job for a year now, and I just got my performance review. My boss was very positive for the whole thing. No negative feedback, and was telling me all about how great I've been. But for every category I only got “meets expectations”. Because all of my categories were “meets expectations” my raise this year – at a time when inflation has been over 7% – was less than 3%. Thanks for the 4% pay cut I guess…
Had another role dumped on me
So I got an email a couple days ago saying that I'm now the Agile Working Coordinator. No one told me in advance, no one discussed it with me, no warning, NOTHING. Apparently, my job is to develop a plan with my team to make sure everyone spends at least 50% in the office starting in April. So I have to go around getting their specific days they're going to be in office and have it approved by HR. Absolutely ridiculous and asinine. Just had a meeting with HR about this. There's no flexibility at all. If there's a snowstorm on the day you're supposed to be in office, either get your ass to the office or take a vacation day. WE LIVE IN CANADA. No half days. Another person on the call pointed out that her husband has cancer so working from home has made it easy for her…
If i put 10k on stocks or crypto, and i lose money, the whole world will call me an idiot and say it's my fault..but when it comes to renting, wether it's a landlord who can afford to have an extra house while most people have none, or a mega corp renting office spaces that lobbies against smart working, the whole world has to bend over backwards to make sure their investment is successful. Why is that?
Interview for a 100x better company.
Today I will have an interview, and I would like to share it with the best job subreddit in the world, because it helped me improve my outlook, and definitely leave the current company I'm in, where I'm not valued, besides being a super toxic environment for anyone. Thank you and wish me luck!
