I know that not all companies have openings in Colorado BUT! the state recently passed a “pay transparency” law where employers must disclose a salary range for every job opening. It's not perfect but if you're making $20 /hour you can avoid wasting your time applying to jobs that will offer $12-$18. Sorry if this is a repost; I didn't see anything searching “Colorado.”
So I work at a non-profit for less than 50k a year. I enjoy what I do and like most people who work in these fields “I don’t do it for the money”. I am a salaried employee and I like salary for the flexibility as I’m busy with four kids and a wife and never complain about working 10-12 hour shifts if there is a need. Also don’t need “at-a-boys” to do so as I understand that salary does have those “days”. However, I have a boss (Lord Business is what I will refer to them as) that is the epitome of a boomer and is a pro at micromanaging. I had a week where I had to stay home and watch kids and there were a couple of dropped balls while away but nothing life or death. Come back and Lord Business pulls me in and has the…
Do not come to CVS.
If I get caught saying this I risk being fired but…As a pharmacy tech currently working here. Do not support this shithole- transfer your meds elsewhere if you can. We are underpaid, overworked (not enough techs during a shift- its a skeleton crew), sometimes under-scheduled, verbally abused from customers on the daily for hours on end….We just now recently were allotted 30 minute lunch breaks (that are even less than when putting the amount of customers at pickup into consideration.) FFS even orientation is just hours long of company propaganda stating “How great CVS is!”, how the customer is always correct, how their competitors are the big bad guy, how we aren't allowed to discuss our wages, how important their stock prices is, and how much we are doing a service to the world working close to unlivable salaries. I have worked customer service before, but never in my life…
unions. capitalism. feudalism
Notice how none of these terms actually matter. Look at your activities across the day. Exactly what part of the things you do with yourself, your friends, your family have to do with how your life is governed? Antiwork forum full of nonsensical ranting. Take a second to realize ideas are nothing without people.

Looking for a post
Sorry if this isn’t allowed, but I’ve been looking for a post that I can’t seem to find. It’s a few weeks old I think. Talked about whitening text on a resume with certain buzzwords to get through the bullshit application AI that filters you out if those specific words aren’t on the resume. Applying for a field I haven’t worked for yet and wanted to use this trick. Appreciate any help!
It’s all this sub has today.
Sick day question
First of all my job doesn't technically have sick days, but I'm curious to see people's opinions on the following situation. A coworker of mine called in sick a few days ago. She was throwing up constantly so definitely good reason to call off. Well our boss asked her to find coverage for the day and the following day if she was still going to be sick and was kind of rude about it. Now, I get if you have a planned vacation you should find subs since you know you'll be gone. But in situations like this when you're suddenly very ill, should it really be your responsibility to find employees to work? My thoughts are if you're sick you're sick, and the boss needs to find coverage. Especially since you're not being paid to call people to try to get them to come in. I don't know, it…
How History Repeats Itself.
Sir Author Conan Doyle, in his novel Sir Nigel, begins by outlining post Bubonic Plague England. He says “Yet, it was there, in that stream of death, in that reek of corruption, that the brighter and freer England was borne. There in that dark hour the first streak of the new dawn was seen. For in no way save by a great upheaval and change could the nation break away from that iron feudal system which held her limbs… …there was much to do and few left to do it. Therefore, the few should be free men, name their own price, and work where and for whom they would.” Who would have thought that a novel by an emperialist would lay bare the essence of ant-work.
