Use this before negotiating salary
Hey, HR person here. Here are the free resources my company uses to calculate pay range. Advocate for the pay you deserve. If any other HR people were trained differently, please share. Use the links below to find the appropriate pay ranges for your job title. I wish it included more roles but these are the only resources I have available. Example: You find out the starting salary for your role is $50,000 based on those links. Take the salary amount and multiple it by the cost of living percentage listed on the Robert Half pdf. Say you live in San Francisco. It’s listed as +41%. Your salary should be $50,000 x 1.41 = $70,500 For every year of outside experience, multiply that adjusted salary by 3%. For every 2 years of internal experience, add 3%. If you have 2 years of outside experience, do $70,500 x 1.06 = $74,730.…

This company is easily the most disgusting company I've ever worked for. This is my last straw. I'm finally quitting.
I’m 22 years old, working to pay off my husband and I’s student loans and my husbands car. I put in my request today. I didn’t have enough PTO because they refused to let me work from home when I was sick in January. I work as a social worker for children. If I leave my clients will be neglected and my all ready overworked coworkers will be wrecked. So I told them they can either let me appeal, work virtually when I am at the meet, or I’ll put in my two weeks notice. It sucks because I love my job, but I’m going to pick trying to race…
This should be a label on life
Manager: Hey, so there's been a problem with the pay software, so we can't pay you this fortnight, but don't worry! You'll be paid in full next pay period. Me: Oh. That's too bad. I guess you'd better take me off the roster for the next two weeks, then. Manager: What? But I need you to drive! You can't take 2 weeks off on a day's notice! Me: There's literally enough fuel in my car to get home tonight and back into work in the morning. What do you suggest I do? Manager: Well why don't you budget better? Me: …um… I budget fine, but you know how budgets work, right? You balance money coming in with money going out. If there's no money coming in, there can't be money going out. Manager: Well what about your savings? Me: My savings? After COVID? After the floods that meant we didn't…
