working night shift at Tim Hortons
So I used to do nights at tims for a few years. Its an easy job as they don't really watch the night shift so I ate a lot of stuff for free (one of my jobs was to dispose of unused food so I would eat a lot of it lol). We were always a crew of 2 people on a very busy intersection. Not very busy at night but once 5am hit the store was packed until noon. I only have 2 bad stories though because most of my memory of it is a daze because of how boring it was. First story: Daylight savings time. I was working with a new girl named Daisy. Everyone that worked with me knew I didn't like customers much so I would do the majority of the work (cleaning, making food, prepping coffee) and they would take the orders. I liked…
Tips to avoid wage theft?
Hello community. I was just wondering if anyone had tips on how to track hours and pay easily and quickly to compare against pay checks. Perhaps there’s some app I haven’t heard of? Thank you.
Asked me to send a video of myself
I applied to a company online, you know the drill – sent my resume, completed an application with some more information etc. About 5 minutes after that, I received two emails: The second was thanking me for applying The first was them telling me that they were very excited about my resume, I have great qualifications, I have been shortlisted and we will proceed with an interview (without giving specific day/time or asking me when it's convenient). But FIRST they want me to submit a video of myself saying hi, explaining my background and going in depth about my experiences, and explaining what makes this company different so that I want to work with them. Why don’t we create a workers union
I mean like there's unions for lots of jobs why don't we create one massive union for all the unrepresented jobs. For all the Walmart, Amazon, target, Walgreens employees. For bartenders, waiters and waitresses. For everyone that that's underpaid and overworked. Why don't we all band together and create a massive nation wide union that looks out for all our interests?

Like if your off days arent PTO, why do they care? And everyone can go thru times where they end up with a situation or health condition that gets worse. Like me, I had flu symptoms for a good week and up til yesterday I developed a stomach virus along with my baby who had to be taken to urgent care. So I've missed 3 days of work so far and because of policy, I may get a talk to or fired. My last job I had to be talked to because I took unplanned PTO 2-3 times in 2 months because something related…
