The TCRC, (Teamsters Canada Rail Conference) which represents (in this case) around 3,500 Conductors and Locomotive Engineers is being locked out as of 0001 Sunday March 20th. The big issues are the company, CP Rail, want to take away our rest clauses, and the ability to book off sick, or unfit for work, as well as completely change our pension plan. This is something very detrimental to everyone employed with CP. We have had a pension cap and freeze in place for 1 years. While the company has made literal billions in profits, and the pension is funded at 145%. While the Canada Revenue Agency has given the company a hiatus on contributions because the plan is so over funded, CP wants to cut our pension and claim that it isn't sustainable for future and current employees. They want to have it so we are at work more than home.…
Lost respect for this company when they pulled me into a meeting rudely calling me out for taking too much time off, only to pull up my stats sheet and see that I didn't even take all of my vacation days. Got fired yesterday for “not working hard enough”. Sent the CEO an email about the blatant nepotism and lack of professionalism or respect for employees at the company. ended it with a nice PS. with a screenshot of his loved one when she came back from vacation AKA the director of operations of the company. He advised me not to use him as a referral for my future employment. https://preview.redd.it/qywdfqdmpun81.png?width=536&format=png&auto=webp&s=7b5e85c902ce29a8be520ab72c8c08754294d422
I am a first year university student taking intro to philosophy. Every single thing we learn I end up contextualizing in my head in terms of capitalism (it’s hard not to when that’s the world we live in today). The other day we were learning about Locke’s stance on private property, which he states is a necessary human right. His argument I could go on a whole other tangent about, but one section of it is this: P1: one has ownership within oneself. P2: one has ownership over their labour. Therefore: one has ownership over the fruits of their labour. We also learned about this other old philosopher dude (Kant possibly?) who believed it was morally wrong to treat humans as if they were a “thing” or to treat them subhumanley (plays in with sexism and racism). Now here you see my dilemma. I want my TA to have as…
Hi, i made a post some days ago, explaining that my manager has been acting in sketchy ways, crashed a company car, and wanted me to cancel a conference the i planned alone, because he was going out of town for a political event. I dont know if i can post links in the posts, if i can, i will edit so you can read the full story. To continue with the update. We had a discussion, and we agreed in making the conference the day that i originally planned. I did set up some form to register the participants, and guess what, we ended up (in numbers) over crowding in 48 hours. The day of the conference, enough people came to fill all of the chairs in the conference room (number of chairs allowed by COVID-19 safety meassures, and remember, my country is about 90% vaccinated, anti maskers are…
