I'm 20 years old. Graduated high school last year at 19. Very late, I know, but I've had a pretty hectic childhood which makes me fortunate to have had the opportunity to get a real diploma whatsoever. I never worked a “real job” in my life. I've done sex work since I was 12 for 7 years until I turned 18. Can't put THAT on a resume. I've got no criminal background though and I've been trying so hard to get a real job for the past months since I graduated high school but no matter how many applications I fill out noone ever responds. I feel like I'll never amount to anything in life if I can't get hired soon. If employers already consider me “too old” to not have any job experience at 20 what makes me think I'll have any better luck getting employed as the years…
I screw up
I'm deaf and spend 20 years collecting Disability money. I got a BS degree but didn't / wasn't able to get a real job. Now I work for Amazon bottom level 1 for 2 years. I didn't think I would get an income like this. I'm 53 I feel like I'm done. But I think there are other people in same place as I was. Oh well one thing at a time.
A friend of mine recently reached out to me to vent because she was denied a perfect job opportunity after a couple of rounds of interviews because of her credit score. They told her she did great on all other aspects but that was what prevented her from being hired and I just can not wrap my head around that. Why the heck should your credit score matter if by all other measures you would be great for the job??? What the actual F?!
It’s getting to be that time…
I'm kissing the weekend goodbye, work clothes on spin cycle as we speak. I'll be thinking about everybody here on my way in tomorrow morning. Wishing you the sanest week possible. ️️️ Just do your best with whatever comes your way this week. That's my plan and that's all we can do.
Over the past few days, I've been seeing more and more posts about how EVs are for the rich, and you'll never have one, and you should just shut up and buy the high priced gas, but I'm telling you cheap EVs exist. Saying you can't get an EV because you can't afford a Tesla is like saying you can't buy a gas car, because you can't afford Porche. Used EVs for under $6000 USD – https://youtu.be/df0thu9bfJo A few disclaimers before you flame me. 1) I know a lot of you rent, and have asshole landlords who won't install a charger. I also know that not being to charge at home might make an EV impractical for you. I would at least download the plugshare app and have a look around the neighborhood. Is there a charger near work, near home, near where you get groceries? 2) I firmly believe…
