Help! New employer lying about timecard?!?

My boyfriend’s timecard was supposed to be sent to his employer via email before 12 pm today. He sent it at 6 am. His employer responded that they didn’t receive it until 8 pm! Because it’s “late” he wont be paid until the next cycle. The kicker- the employer’s own email response seems to show they are replying to an email they received at 9 am their time (they’re 3 hours ahead of us). Is this proof enough that they’re lying? It seems super shady! Is anyone out there familiar enough with this kind of thing to help us out?

US Bank raising minimum wage to 18/hr but won’t compensate people who have been there longer.

So I thought people should know that US Bank decided to bump the company minimum wage to 18/hr. Once the plan is implemented by summer time, everyone who is below that rate will be bumped up to that rate. Full disclosure that I will be experiencing a bump from this raise. And with my 10% shift differential I'll be up to basically 20/hr. I think this is a really good thing to do overall considering inflation but there are two issues I see with it. This pay bump essentially negates any raise that we got for last year. So if you got a 3 to 5% raise and that raise put your base pay rate still below 18, then it's basically like you didn't get a raise at all because someone walking in the door day 1 will be making that same amount. Even tho this doesn't effect me cause…

Hey, question for everyone on how to “politely” ask for a raise given the circumstances.

So i've been working at my current employee for about a year now. In the year there have been alot of changes in my life and work life. I was hired as a helper, but now have more ability than the person working aside me, in physical ability, and in knowledge. My partner is the typical grumpy/close minded person with a terrible attitude. Once was asked to do a difficult task due to his time there than began to argue with the supervisor and claim that he doesnt get paid enough to do it. I have since picked that task up now, and do it well, almost daily, to the point of if i didnt do it, work would not get done. Essentially I have made myself valuable/ more valuable than my partner. I get paid hourly somewhere in the $20 an hour category. I do work overtime, so that…

Tried to quit and they offered me a raise and a management position. Advice welcome!

I have worked for a fast food chain the last few months, and during my time working there I have picked up a large amount of slack from management and coworkers. Often times I am the only person who can close when I work, and sometimes I am the only person working the front of house at all (drive thru, dine in, packing orders, making drinks, doordash orders, dealing with angry customers, tending the dining room, etc.). The amount of work that I’m expected to do is not possible for one human being. Our managers have the ability to close the dining room so that I can just worry about drive thru, but they have to get permission from higher management first. I have begged them crying to lock the doors but they don’t have that power. It’s always a losing game each time I go in, and the longer…

I was an idiot and accepted less money to work in an abusive environment

So I worked as a kitchen porter for a long time in a hotel on a seasonal contract. I have a couple disabilities that can make working in a kitchen hard (aspergers and dyspraxia) and I will be the first to admit I'm not a perfect employee. Well the hotel came under new management in my last season and the manager was in a tough spot, due to the hotels rural location getting staff is rough. He was working 18 hours a day 7 days a week, that is stressful. Well as I was the one in the kitchen with him I got turned into the workplace punch bag. Every small issue was somehow my fault. Some were genuinely mistakes i had made in cleaning missing some streaks on plates, but some were just infuriating. He has the cleaning lady cover my days off, she would put dishes and the…

The whole world can change in less than two years. Your whole life can change in less than two years. Remember that when an employer makes demands about how long you have to stay at your job.

I was told I’m not a team player.

I'm sorry I just need to vent for a second. I was informed today by a coworker that on Friday my boss was informed that I wasn't a team player and needed to be replaced immediately. Why am I not a team player? Because my coworker has quit and I told my boss I wouldn't work 12 hour shifts or 7 days a week. Before I was told to move from my former position to my currently one my coworker and boss worked 12 hour shifts for over a year because they refused to hire anyone to help. It wasn't until my boss threatened to quit did they tell me, not ask by the way, to do my current job. My boss said they wouldn't do 12 hours or 7 days either. But here I'm not a team player for saying the same. I want nothing more to quit. But…

I have no idea why this was advertised to me, but I still balked at what they’re offering.
