Advice needed

I need advice on a situation I’m facing at my workplace. To keep it short, I was promoted to “supervisor” and have been performing said duties for about two weeks. The issue is that I haven’t yet received my offer letter detailing the title change and increased pay rate. I’m getting fed up because they basically strung me along for this position for MONTHS before finally saying that I got it but not giving me an offer letter???? I sent an email to HR asking when I can expect to see this but no response. I’ve heard I should also receive retroactive pay for the time I’ve been doing supervisory functions and not paid correctly. How can I approach this with my employer? I am starting to feel angry, resentful and upset. I’m not in a position to quit but am looking for jobs. Any lawyers in here that might…

Advice About Switching Jobs

TLDR: Thinking about switching jobs to a job I'd love to do with less pay, but boss offered me a promotion that's been dangled in front of me for months. They are asking how much I'd be paid at new position to assess my raise. Throwaway account so Walgreens can't find me, obviously. I've been working for Walgreens for about 4 years now and am currently a Senior Certified Pharmacy Technician. I know the ins and outs of this pharmacy- from which patients are our regulars, to which medications are in stock and need to be ordered, to billing each insurance. If the training technicians have a question, they either come to me or the pharmacist. I've been at this particular store for almost a year now after having transferred from another state and have very quickly made myself known as reliable, repsonsible, and knowledgeable. I live in the Chicagoland…

Just wondering

So, I´ve been wondering for a bit. I´m a 55 year old man, been working in healthcare for the last 30 years. Great job, not much chance of getting rich. Twenty years ago I bought a house cheaply in an undesirable area of my country. Everybody told me I was crazy to buy it. Now we´re 20 years further, it´s worth a bit more and I´m being told I´m an asshole for having said property. And I get that it is realy difficult for young people to get an affordable house nowadays. But, with my limited understanding of economy and stuff, I don´t see how I´m responsible for that.

are employers really this stupid that they don’t understand why you job hop?

“I see in your resume you've switched companies 2 times in the last 3 years” yes, because they were paying dog shit and the only way to get a better wage was to job hop. And if you pay me a living wage I promise I won't job hop from this position

Funny realization

So having a discussion with my mother about labor shortages and people not wanting to work. She is a c suit executive for a non profit she makes a decent amount of money but still isn't above that half a mil mark maybe still below a quarter of a mill. She works incredibly hard 60 hours a week some times 80. Whenever I bring up worker rights or people wanting a livable wage it's the same boomer rhetoric you've all heard before. I always think it's funny because if your “entry levels” are asking for more while some working as many if not more hours then her a week to make ends meet sticks. Her lifestyle and pay might actually also be impacted for the better. What are your thoughts anti work 🤔 She clearly isn't top 10% hell maybe even 20% bracket of earnings is our message missed on…

Crunch gym whackness

So I decided to become a personal trainer because life as a musician in COVID is extra hard. I have an 80% sale rate meaning if I do a free promo with you, 8 out of 10 people sign up with me. That isn’t so bad eh? My pay for 6 days of work was $100. My manager confirmed that was correct. I am supposed to sell 30 min sessions and so I give my clients 30 min. I prep and clean up outside of their paid time. The gym refuses to pay me for the 10 min I spend on their lesson plans and cleaning. They insist I click out and in at exactly the training time and not a minute more. My cat died while I was visiting family overseas. I was supposed to land and then go to the gym to train and I decided to call…

Guilty for potentially taking a job over my current employer

Hey guys. I’ve been with my current employer for over 8 months, and the experience has been okay. I’m at $15hr as a part-time social media specialist and I help create content for my boss’s 3 different businesses. It’s mainly just us working together and (despite her spotty management skills) we get along pretty well. During this time, I’ve been freelancing on the side as a graphic designer. My latest freelance client (we’ll call them VCC) had me work on a 5 month-long project that paid well. The experience was also great because I worked with colleagues who understood design principles (if you’re a freelance designer you would understand lmao). At the end of my contract, the person I’ve been working for told me they have a job opening for a Communications Manager position at VCC. I immediately sent over my resume and cover letter, got an interview with them…
