Have you seen some of the cartoons these Boomers make, where they portray their wives as evil ball demolishing demons? A lot of these men obviously stayed at work and did overtime and came in on the weekends because they wanted to get away from their families. Some of these older men clearly represent their wives and children, and work was the only outlet they had to get away from them.

i(20F) have been working minimum wage jobs since i was 17; fast food to retail. I’ve been working the same job since my senior year of high school and I was always those employees that rlly put in that extra (unpaid) effort, any time they would needed someone to come in and work i was their girl. can you come in early? no problem can you stay later? sure. I did this cuz in my mind it’s like screw it im getting paid either way. but i now realize that im not getting paid enough either way; today i had to come in at 4AM to help with inventory, while counting the items, i count them twice and run my fingers through them so i do not mess up my count- my manager turns to my other manager n goes “oh you know (myname) is a little..” n then he…

EDIT: For anyone asking, we’ve been here a few hours. She’s calming down. They have not identified anything wrong with her. Could be panic attacks, stress from work, etc. we came here after going to an urgent care and getting X-rays where they didn’t find anything but told us to go to the ER. After we leave here, she’s probably going to work all weekend and we will get billed well over $1000 between the urgent care and ER. She has insurance. Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I’m pretty adamant that her lack of work life balance is killing her.
