Called during my day off
So, I was called to implement software feature. CEO called manager number 1, manager number 1 called manager number 2 and manager number 2 called me to do the work during my day off. He insisted that I should cancel all my plans during that day and do the job ASAP. But there actually was literally no rush for this. As this feature is needed for incoming weeks and I was confident that I will be able to implement it in friday. But ok, I didn't cancel my plans but just came to work and implemented it in 3-4 hrs and managed to do everything that I planned today. But fuck this job. Manager wanted me to cancel my dentist and back healing procedures (I have problems with my back and neck and he knew it). I hate this job. Why is some bullshit feature which takes 3-4 hrs to…
I'm going to preface this by saying I do enjoy my job and my coworkers, and my employer does seem to try to care about employees. That being said, it's open enrollment right now. I just logged in to look at my benefits elections and was rather shocked to find that the base health insurance plan, previously 100% employer paid, is now $42/paycheck. The plan has gotten better ($1,500 deductible vs $3k, lower co-pays, etc.), but the previous plan was perfect for me. I don't want a better plan, I want a free plan. What pisses me off most, though, is that the employer contribution is going down by $25.05/paycheck. So they're saving money while I'm losing money. If they had kept their contribution the same and increased mine to cover the difference, I wouldn't be complaining. But this sucks. Last month they gave us a 5% Cost of Living…
I don’t know how to get it through peoples thick skulls that you do NOT WORK THROUGHOUT YOUR LUNCH TO “catch up” on work. You use the hours you are given. Also, don’t do anything company related on your own time?? Always go to the bathroom on company time and other things if possible … I truly don’t know how people can’t understand this concept (speaking from experience of people in my same job position at my same job) … I don’t see any reason whatsoever to give away your time for a company that doesn’t give a shit about your sacrifice (even if they do) … anyways rant over back to scrolling Reddit and reading articles on company time
The UK needs your help!
I posted 2 days ago the opening of a petition to end wage secrecy by making it a legal requirement to post clear wages and salaries on all job adverts. Today I got an email informing me the petition is now live and ready for the world to see and sign… https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/609260
Quit My Job – Employer Says I Owe Money
Quit my job to be a stay at home Dad, which I am loving. Resigned effectively Jan 14 and was issued two last checks in the subsequent weeks. Just a got a “bill” yesterday from them saying I owe them for overuse of sick and paid leave. Am I obligated to pay this? Me last paycheck stub showed a positive balance on both and I did not use any during my FMLA. If I did owe, shouldn’t have this been settled with the last two checks that were more than enough to cover the amount owed?
My husband got up early and drove through slick, snowy road conditions to an interview this morning for a warehouse/shipping and receiving position at a local paint company. He responded to the ad because it fit his interests and experience. When he arrived, he was informed that the job was no longer shipping and receiving, but rather mixing/canning/lidding paint. The paint fumes alone make the two positions completely incomparable. The reason they gave for lying about the position was that they “currently had a different need due to the changing business”. At least they show their true colors right off the bat, I guess.
I applied 11 years ago
Today I received a call for a job I applied to and turned down, 11 years ago. 11 years! I just pulled my notebook and they are offering less salary than when I interviewed for the role in 2011 by $7k. I asked The recruiter if the resume has a date stamp and she replied “ah yes 2011. Do you have a more current one?” I told her I had moved on and up. Totally gobsmacked.
Revenge is best served deep sea cold.
This story starts about a a year and a half ago. I had recently been laid off due to unforeseen circumstances by a company, and after a short while of pumping projects in my workshop, I began looking up job offers. There wasn't much to choose from, and the few places that suited my specialized ass, were either too far and didn't want to commit to my hiring because of such long commute (wich was fine by me), or didn't have positions avaliable, you know the same old story for anyone looking for positions in their field. When things started to become a bit tighter for my liking, I received a surprise message through a well known “work social media network”: “Hey, I have seen your profile and your job seeking status, and wanted to ask, is working at a underwater ROV company, something that may interest you?” HOLY FUCK…
