A small thank you

I and nine others were recently “let go” at the start of the month by a truly toxic work place – seeing things from the outside helped me realize how extremely toxic they were. With that, my final paycheck seemed to be a little lite, and it took me ages to sort out the maths they used… Being salaried they divided up each post period by 15 days including weekend instead of just the actual working days. Having put in a full 40 hour week my final week, and being paid for 3/4 of the time. This didn't sit well with me, so I made inquiries with HR at my former employer, and they have me some BS run around excuse for a couple days with no clear results. After reading many times about wage theft on here, I read up briefly on final paycheck rules in Wisconsin, and informed…

The best way to fight current system is by promoting how good it feels being debt free

I admit that I only have $1,000 after fully paying up my mortgage few months ago. But I cannot overstate how good it feels being debt free, the mental benefit is very tangible. Feeling less anxiety about job security. This in turn lead to more powerful feeling against bosses. Feeling good that you can use 100% on payroll. Less panic attack and mood swing More importantly, not feeling trapped in current job just pay off current debt. I've gotta say “debt is slavery” is truer than ever. I bet some of you in this sub are working toward being debt free. I can only say best wishes for you.

Everyone should be interviewing even outside their industry and turning down offers due to low pay.

We should be thinking of wages like we think about stocks. The “worth” of a company on the stock market is determined through price discovery. There's no easily determined inherent value of a company, just how much someone is willing to pay for it. Wages are also set via price discovery. Unless you're part of a union/government with a collective agreement indicating your wages, your salary is what your employer thinks is the minimum they can pay for your skills/education/situation/etc. But remember, this is a game of price discovery. If prospective employees turn down jobs saying “it's not enough money for me, sorry” then employers will think that the “price” of labour is higher than they initially thought. This is where we come in. Even if we aren't looking for a job, or even if it's a job that we're not interested in, we should be applying to these as…

Boss responds to my resignation. Honestly, if any of this was true, why not just fire me?

Bernie Sanders Agenda

I don’t know why but I decided to go to Bernie Sanders page and now I regret it 🥲 I was reading everything he wants to do with medicare for all, housing for all, college for all, expanding social security, women’s rights, tax on extreme wealth, etc. And I just got depressed af. We really didn’t give this guy a chance? Bernie is the one that got away This man really wanted to fight for middle America and for the poor. It’s even more depressing knowing that he won’t be running for the presidency in 2024.
