Tax landlords
Hello antiwork big fan, but not on my main account out of paranoia. Just want to say I hate landlords. This rant will largely apply to the US (sorry). They are leeches and are destroying the American Dream. What I don't see a lot of is people pushing for a substantial tax on non-owner occupied single family homes. Like if we actually had representation that cared about all classes of people, why not dis-incentivize being a landlord. Also if these non-owner occupied single family homes no longer were a good investment, would that not force corporations to also reintroduce their real estate back into the market or get burned by taxes? We should also increase taxes related to foreign ownership of US realestate. Make it undesirable for international corporations to snatch up as well. Nothing is perfect but to me it seems this would be a step into the right…

Store psychopath
Back in December we had a Christmas party where my former GM finally admitted “damn Dude your a psychopath.” I won’t lie a big part of me is insane enough I’ve considered burning the store to ashes. But not anymore. Why…I can watch it self destruct on its own. I have a few people that work there I care about but others…yeah they mean nothing to me. My new GM is already second guessing herself. Fire me? Cool. I’m smarter then your former employees. I’ll single handedly kill business to your store. Your not even paying attention to labor which is what caused last GM to leave. I’ll single handedly make your store inoperable. I’ve been here 4 years…don’t think I don’t know this store inside out. Believe if I’m going down I’m taking someone with me. I don’t have to steal or do any physical damage…your already ruining the…
I worked for a small English as a second language institute. I was told teachers don't get raises. But that there was a bonus system for meeting very VERY specific targets. Problem was…. If the consultant team didn't manage to meet their targets of recruiting students then it didn't matter if the teachers met their targets or not, there would be no raise for anyone that quarter. Bonuses promised were also pathetic. I work for myself now and make twice as much.
My dodgy boss
Okay, I left this business about 6 months ago but I still have so many emotions about it that I just wanted to tell the world. I’ll try to keep it as short as I can. I worked at a restaurant and at first it was… fine. There was some red flag my boss, he’s kinda sexist. I learnt this when I started and I was working with the only other girl. He came in and I quote “so glad to have two girls on, this store is going to be so clean.” I looked at my coworker with a “is he serious?” Look, She basically told that he says dumb things like that all the time. I also ask the staff how reliable was the pay was as this was only a small business. One of my coworkers mentioned that the boss had owed an ex employee a lot…

My job gave us the worst incentives
I recently received a soft offer for a server position that I interviewed for. It's not official because it has to be ratified by the owners. I probably was honest enough to lose it, though, because I'm able to follow a stupid rule but I won't pretend to be brainwashed by it. So, this place is fine dining. The manager said they don't consider it to be, but if you're spending $100+ per person, it's fine dining. They have patronizing rules for how employees are to behave during service, things like you can only approach the table from this side, you can only hand someone a drink with this hand, you can only bus tables this way, etc, etc. The manager told me “not to lean” because I had my hand on a chair while listening to another server going over their process. If something has actual utility, I'm for…
