Man I love freelancing, I said upfront that these guys are paying me for a site, 2hr min 35/hr (about half the market rate), these guys continue to send me Teams messages, emails, calls about changes then don't get me the shit for changes. For example they'll ask me to move an item like soap where it has a product name and picture, to a section of the site where everyone has a product name, picture, title, description, and social media link. Well they just say move the item with none of the extra shit, I go to move the item, I ask for the extra shit, “We'll have it tomorrow”. Great, startup tomorrow another hour is billed. I send them the bill after 30 hours because they don't like how the site looks (just started on it) and how much they've paid ( the last company, they ain't pay…
Legal cannabis industry uses and abuses.
Alright it's finally time for me to RANT about where I work/ maybe worked? So today my coworker gets the forklift stuck. Comes to ask me to help pull it out with my jeep. I said “not untill a supervisor is present” as my superior comes over, helps us chain it up to my car. He is pushing on the forklift and something pops and my car starts making noise. We get the forklift out and my powersteering has gone out. I park the car tell my general manager that my manager above me was present and helped with this. Nothing will be coved on my vehicle from the company. Not only that but the past 2 years they have had me do many questionable and illegal things for them while holding raises and promotions over my head. The department of agriculture and the state police would love to hear…
Why are they so damn selfish?
Like, its my birthday coming up, I’m trying to get that day off since I want to spend some time with my family obviously, my team is currently with very low resources and two members are currently on holidays. Its one day, like.. How can’t they help just for one day? They are all very but very selfish, they just do their jobs without working in teams. I just feel so unmotivated and disappointed with my work right now and with the people I work with. Like I have 0 trust and no colleagues or friends nor in a work environment or outside (work-wise) they are all just too damn selfish. I am not spending my birthday at the office. Sorry not sorry.
Tip theft?
So I work at Five Guys in NYC and last week one of my coworkers, lets call them Z, was in charge of the register. Z accidentally gave out the wrong change to a customer, shorting the register by $40. In response the general manager decided that the $40 would be recovered by taking away all of the employees tips we receive in cash. Normally i wouldn’t care because tip(once split) is about 1-3 dollars per employee but for some reason this aggravates me. All the crew members make 15/hr before nyc tax and taking out tips seems so low. Also as a company that boasts about not spending a dime on marketing and has millions in profits, like c’mon. Also is this illegal?
Like the title says. Every. Single. Time. I see or hear about anything remotely progressive about poor workplace conditions, low wages, billion-dollar multinational companies, and anti-competitive practices, there are always someone that says something incredibly ignorant like: Why don't you just find a new job?! You should just try negotiating your wage, liberal Just don't shop at [Insert company like Amazon, McDonalds, Walmart, etc.] if you don't like how they treat their workers. Vote with your dollar! Just get an education you lazy POS Clearly, people would rather just CoMpLaIn than do their jobs Unions just prop up workers who are lazy OH, you think companies would be run better as a co-op? You're stupid, remember Yugoslavia?! LIBERAL?!?!? I just gotta say, you need to think a little deeper. Why can you all just get it through your heads that just maybe everybody's life wasn't as easy as your own.…
I sometimes think I am losing my mind! I started at this new job about 6 months ago and initially all was well but things slowly started to devolve. I report to a married male manager who I suspect had taken a more than platonic liking to me. However I just kept things cool and remained professional. I feel like me not responding to him has caused him to treat me worse than the other people I work with. ( I am the only female btw). I always have strict boundaries and never mix business and pleasure. On my first few weeks there I went into my office and discreetly put his business card where only I could see with his cell and I did not think anything of it. A few weeks later, I noticed random shit in my office is always being moved around. Like yesterday I had…
I graduated from college about a year ago, and took a job at a company that I interned with for about a year and a half. Everything was going great until one of my senior level coworkers was promoted to a higher position without them finding coverage for my team. I'm now working long, crazy hours and on projects way advanced for my job description. Others on my team who are paid more with a higher job level weren't given additional work like I was. I'm not sure if I should look for other employment or ask for a raise (which I also have no idea how to go about doing). I generally like my boss and team as people, but the work is getting out of hand and I'm starting to feel a little run down. Any advice?
EDIT: MAY 1st mixed up my M months I've seen quite a few people say that May 1st should be the date we make our move with a general workers strike and refuse to go back until our demands are met but what demands are we going for here? $24/ph living wage? 4 day work weeks? Maternity leave and Reverence increases? We need to make a concrete agreed upon list of demands or any attempt at progress will fizzle out.
Title self explanatory. After having shut down my department last year, mass firing, demoting those they chose to keep, promising raises then not following through cAuSe cOvid, and now acting like it's an “EXCITING OPPORTUNITY!!!!” To have to apply for a job that I am already doing I am just done…
