I'll try to keep this short, im asking for advice because I feel genuinely wronged and exploited and I'm still reeling from what happened: I got a new SALES (important detail) job in December selling solar to people. Specifically, it's a sales CLOSER position. Company/recruiter specifically advertised NO cold calling, NO door knocking, and payment via commissions only. My only responsibility is/was to go to the leads/appointments provided and show a customer a proposal and get them to sign. Pretty standard stuff. I was also promised paid training (I have this in writing from the recruiter). I completed all online and in person training by the end of January and I was expecting to go out on sales leads the next week. I'm an American who's lived outside the US for a little over a decade and I'm in my early 30s. So I live in the UK now for almost 1 year and a half after living in Portugal for almost 4 years prior (miss that place). This was precovid but several years ago I had to call out sick from my job because the coworkers that had more seniority than me (3 out of 10) planned to go on vacation that weekend. Every year. We got 3 personal days a year but they could not be next to a holiday/only to be used on one weekend a year (we are required to work every other) and they were pissed at ME because they felt entitled to that particular weekend and took it every year. Have been working customer service in a major US city for the last five years, despite having a degree there just aren’t options that pay as well and don’t require an hour and a half commute. I have been verbally abused, stalked, harassed, a customer has even threatened to call the police on me all just for existing and doing my job by the book. I am constantly told that people are upset about other issues and just want to be heard by someone, but I’m certainly not paid enough to be a therapist. I feel hopeless, I’ve worked in customer service since I was a teenager and see no escape. I guess I’m just ranting but also looking for any guidance people might have to help me out of this situation.

After like your 100th interview do you fake deep thinking about those “Tell me a time when…” or “What is your best blah” questions or do you just blurt out a canned response slightly modified to fit a particular variation?
