Will a mass call off day get us fired?
I so admire the spirit of this group and the people who walk off. I’m jealous of this because not working is definitely not an option for me. Long story short I am a nurse in a hospital with an incredibly weak union. Our health system is under fire from the state and as they say shit rolls down hill. Management has been making our lives absolutely miserable. Anyway, a bunch of the nursing staff and I are planning on all calling off on the same day. We are pissed and want to get our message across but also can’t afford to lose our jobs at the moment. Will a mass call off (not a strike) get us all fired? Our plan was to say we were all sick. Not sure what they can do about that. Thank you sisters and brothers in arms.
cant get a response from companies
recent college grad with experience (2 internships) and can’t find a job. i’ve applied at every locally owned cafe within a 15 mile radius, three starbucks, and two target locations just to make some fucking money and haven’t heard back from any. not even a “hey, sorry but no!” and keep getting rejection emails from entry-level positions i apply to except ONE. i’m writing this now insanely frustrated as i was supposed to have my FIRST phone interview opportunity with a company and it’s now 20 mins past the time they were supposed to call. i’m sick of this “we need workers” bullshit. i’m losing my fucking mind.
Just a “coaching”
I work for a non-profit transitional living house for women and their kids. I received a “coaching” today for 3 items – two of which I’ll accept but one where I didn’t agree with. I am new to a new position and have been taking over the intake process of new residents. We receive the application and have a 24 hour window to reach out to the client to schedule them for a tour and intake paperwork (48 hours if they submit on a weekend). As a new employee I didn’t have access to the intake emails right away. The client in question submitted their application on 2/6 (Sunday) and the follow up was done 2/9 (Wednesday). I was not given full access to the intake form until 2/10 (Thursday). When I presented this to HR, they said it’s just a coaching, not a write up and wouldn’t take the…
So as the title suggests I am getting offered a relatively low pay for an intense job. I teach engineering, computer science, and mathematics. I'll be taking special certifications with me wherever I go, and yet because they can't pay OTHER people a living wage, they certainly can't afford to pay me one. I'm still negotiating, but I'm not happy, below is an extended explanation. I am looking to leave my current teaching position because the workload is crap. I do all of the classes above, with little time for grading, lesson planning, or any other paperwork. So my classes are suffering because I'm stretched way too thin. Im applying elsewhere and get offered about $5000 more, but it's still not enough to cover my bills. And I know this, and I know my qualifications, so im pissed. The idea that I can only make more either by getting more…
Sorry to Bother You
Has anyone seen this movie? It was on Netflix a while ago, it’s on some other streaming platforms now. It’s SUPER relevant and entertaining too. Check it out, again it’s called “Sorry to Bother You”
