They call me the point misser
but what y'all don't understand is that business, capitalism, and (to a lesser extent) raw productivity* are not anything resembling a “necessity” for mankind as a species to thrive, it's just what everyone has been erroneously convinced is the best possible way. It's a farce.
edit. I provided my updated address to the employer in July.
Back in 2014 I was sitting on a Hilltop overlooking my small southern town. Yes, it was idyllic, but the Lehmen bros collapse killed it's industry and student loans would be a knockin' soon after I graduated college… I asked my French Professor what to do at the time and he said I should travel to a far off land, teach ESL for a few years, and wait for all this to blow over. “You know, what ~ I'll do just that. I'll come back to teach like I originally wanted, but only after the markets return to 90's levels of living.” I was 24 at the time, innocent. Naive, too. But hopeful. Now I'm on a another hilltop over looking another idyllic, Asian town. F.E.I.E in one hand, and a $300 medical bill in the other. F.E.I.E is used to stave off my student debt, coupled with my IDR…
Hello, first off, thanks for even reading this. I recently started a new job in a new city. I have been working for about 3 months. Initially, I was told that the work was going to be part time remote part time in office. Then our president decided that every employee needs to return to office starting March 1. This wouldn’t be that big of an issue, but I have also been struggling with living in a location with no family and friends. So, I was going to use my remote time to travel and visit friends. I am a veteran and struggle with mental anguish. My family mentioned the idea of moving back home and getting a new job that way I could have a support network again. The only issue is, I want to use this company as work experience on my resume (I’m a team lead). If…
This goes out to “abolish work” segment of r/antiwork . I am pretty fed up with the economic system in this country but I have no idea how to fix it, or transition. How do you propose to transition? I see many complaints but no proposed solutions but I am not smart enough to think of a way out. I think that most of us realistically want to “fix” our system, but we just end up bitching. Personally, I think Housing is one area that drastically needs fixing and should be a first target. How do we get housing costs down to a reasonable percentage of income? What's your plan?
I actually prefer in a hotel, but tbh those applications feel like they go nowhere even with years of experience in a hotel I lucked into. Just online form bullshit you get glossed over in. So I try to do privates. It's good money once you get a flow going (not gig apps, just finding people yourself). People are nice generally. Let me have a break, eat some of their food, whatever. I hate that people are nice though. They want to be friendly but they're also the ones with the money to get other people to clean their shitty toilets and wash their sheets that who knows what they do in, and wash their clothes. I don't mind cleaning itself, I'm past “ew gross,” I've cleaned enough ejaculate and feces. I just hate it on principle. I wish there was a clear professional divide. Money in the envelope and…
Resignation letter templates
It's happening folks, I am out of my demanding job as soon as my bonus hits. Less than 1 month from now I will be free. I am scared but relieved. I love the people I work with and hate to leave them but I am absolutely done. I would like to resign but also work as a consultant to tie up any loose ends or train my replacement. Does anyone have a good resignation letter template that specifically states retaining me as a consultant and a fee structure? I was absolutely screwed with my salary and I've stayed too long so if they want to keep me temporarily they gonna have to pay.
